That is actually what happened. I work for UPS and this is a huge deal for us right now. The driver they killed was only 27 and they injured another innocent bystander because the cops decided to unload 20 rounds at an intersection.

So the thing is if the driver aimed or fired at the officers the safety of the hostage is now a nonfactor. Once the officers are underfire (even more so in a public place with civilians all around... they were literally in traffic hiding behind a car with the driver still in it) it becomes a factor of stopping the threat before more people can be hurt.

It's terrible for the hostage and the cops who had to open fire but they didn't do anything "wrong."

So yeah, according to that it was 2 armed men who opened fire on the cops, so the hostages are no longer a factor, sadly.

Sounds like the definition of what is wrong needs to be changed

A common problem nowadays in law enforcement, see: videos of cops shooting dogs that aren't doing shit because they felt "threatened"
