Unboxing videos can be fine, I guess, especially when it's something randomized like a pack of cards, a dybbuk box, a shopkin, etc.
Vlogging can be moderately interesting, too, if the person leads an interesting life. It can also show you different cultures, regionalities, or demographics and provide insight into how they live.
"Influencers" are lame, but not any worse than actual celebrities.
Cam girls/guys are perfectly fine, so are private Snapchats. No shame there.
Buzzfeed articles are like modern day Cracked.
Esports are perfectly fine.

It depends on the person but it goes back to the idea of marketing. It doesn't matter if you got me or Ronda Rousey to market the latest MMA gloves people are trying to get you to buy, it's about how you relate to the person. A woman is probably going to be more influenced by Ronda, whereas a man might not be.

Being famous helps but a lot of social media influencers who aren't famous from something else like a sport or something just happened to go viral or built up a fanbase on their own and companies then help them in exchange for marketing things to others.

• constantly updating your social media so you're still relevant, and knowing your audience
• good marketing and branding skills to be able to sell products you have to promote, even shitty products you have no interest in

They are no different from a twitch streamer or youtube content creater who makes videos of video game stuff. They give you tips and you watch them play, the same way influencers give you tips on how to make your life more aesthetic, fashion trends, or lifestyle ideas like places to visit, things to do, etc. If anything instagram influencers deal with real life, twich deals with video games / virtual world.

Made a dumb af video of her drinking tea and talking like a valley girl while banging her nails on a cellphone, now she has 75 k Insta followers, 50 mil Tik Tok followers, and enough money to full ride her through University of Washingon's big ass tuition costs when she was on student aid before she went viral.

Meanwhile Joe Blow is a straight A student but is struggle bugging his way through one year working at McDolan's. That's why people are pissed. They feel like these people are getting thousands from nonsense while everyone else works their ass off for half of what they make drinking tea or whatever other stupid thing went viral last week.
