I mean, it could be financially successful. Now is an era for strong female protagonists who don't run around in skimpy clothing. And the "Resident Evil clone" stigma which hindered it the first time might loosen up in the reboot.

The people who gave the game a chance liked it. The thing is most never gave it a chance because of it being a knockoff of Jurassic Park or a retooling of the Resident Evil formula. The internet is bigger today than it was back then. Word of mouth and viral marketing when get people excited about it; even if it is slightly derivative of something else.

Highly doubt it. Dino Crisis isn't a household name like RE or Monster Hunter and I highly doubt the people who are claiming they want a remake holds this conviction to be true.

It would be the biggest comeback since Shenmue.

Seriously tho, I don't think the game has a big enough supportive community to make it worthwhile. It's not about who wants it. It's about who will actually show up and pay full price for it.

That's not relevant 20+ years later. What's relevant is that it's not a game/series that comes up in discussion casually. It had it's moment and the majority moved on immediately after.

Well resident evil has stayed relevant throughout the years by having additional games, as poor as some of them were they were still being made. The last dino crisis game was in 2003 on xbox which sold poorly. I guess you could make a comparison with the first dino crisis selling 2.5 million copies and the original shenmue sold 1 million. The newest shenmue is selling poorly.

Literally no one had heard of Monster Hunter before World came out. It was about as niche as niche could be. Even after World, it's still a blip on the radar to most gamers. The name on the box doesn't matter as much as you seem to think it does. Brand recognition is important but making a game that catches the attention of people who don't know the name is more important and "Resident Evil but dinosaurs" is very eye catching.

Im not gonna argue that capitalizing on the lack of good single player dinosaur games couldn't work. It makes more sense when you stop thinking the name is what's gonna carry it. You slap Capcoms name on it well they're on fire lately. Eh, I could see it from that perspective. I was more so arguing that the nostalgia of Dino Crisis wouldn't have the power to move it. But a good planned game is a good planned game. So it would really just come down to everything other than the name. Like any other game.

Then again, as far as dinosaurs go. Pulling off a good Turok reboot would probably get more interest than a DC reboot. Depending on who was handling it. Like I said, having Capcoms hot streak on your side is a huge plus

Remember how popular Planet of the Apes and Westworld were before they got remakes? Remember all of the people clamoring for a live action adaptation of Lord of the Rings? Not everything has to be based off of a property that was popular within the past ten years. A lot of fans don't even realize these things are remakes.

So?

So it wasn't relevant at the time of a reboot. It doesn't have to be in order to get a remake. Dino Crisis could work just fine. Strong women are popular. Dinosaurs are popular. The updated RE engine is popular. It would sell just fine.
