It really depends on the game. If I like a game enough, Ill play it more and more in order to collect trophies/achievements.

I don't really care. When I get one I'll pause the game to see what it was for (if it isn't already obvious) but I never go out of my way to try and get them.

Yes, my gamerscore is over 200k

I'm hardly a completionist though, if I like a game enough i'll keep trying to unlock more achievements, if i'm done with the game I won't grind just to pad my number.

The ones that obsess and have to get 100% on every game, and won't play a game if a single achievement is broken are ridiculous. I used to post on an achievement board, I don't remember what game it was, but something really good and popular came out on Games with Gold for free, and a bunch of people were like "it's a shame that X achievement is unobtainable, I always wanted to play this game but now I have to pass because I can't unlock 100% of the achievements"

How fucking dumb is that? Refusing to play a game because one achievement is broken or unobtainable?

It's pretty much the only reason I continue to buy my multiplats on Playstation lol. Pretty dumb thing to care about since they're getting rid of the trophy rewards and theyre likely to never do a trophy auction again

Nah, I only try to get them when MS Rewards makes it part of the weekly set. Since I'm getting paid to do it I will. Otherwise I don't care at all. I think my Gamerscore is like 4000. I don't play a ton of games.

I like unlocking achievements and I'll look at and periodically review the achievement list as I play through a game, but I generally don't go out of my way to 100% anything.

i like getting that percentage total up now and then.

especially with RTS games i've already played 1000 hours like EU4, the only direction i have is to get specific achivements

Not anymore. I used to care about achievements a lot during the 360 era, but I don't really play consoles that often anymore. I never cared as much about Trophies either. I also really couldn't care less about Steam Achievements. I don't pay any attention to them.

Used to try to get em all. I like how they give you additional things to do once you 100% a game.

I just hate how theres so many thatre missable, so i feel like i have to read up on them beforehand :/

Now i just kinda get em as i go, but theyre not that a big deal

I only care if the achievement itself is something cool and challenging to do in general. For instance, I usually play EU4 nowadays strictly to try to accomplish the more difficult and silly achievements as it gives me interesting goals to strive for.

Theyre one of gamings greatest little additions. Thanks Microsoft.

Sometimes they add that extra little bit of incentive. Sometimes theyre just a pat on the back for doing something awesome, funny or just interesting. Sometimes theyre a point of pride that you enjoyed this video game enough to see it through to 100% completion or you went out of your way to achieve something really difficult. Sometimes theyre goalposts to work towards. Where it just be for the recognition but for me its often because there might be a sweet reward tied with it.

Every once and I while Ill check up on my friends and compare games to see where were both at.

its just a dope little thing and enriched games in interesting ways.

And people get fucking MAAAAAAAD about that boi oh my god. Lol I swear. Gamers make me laugh.

My ocd makes want 100% as many as I can, sadly for some of my games that is impossible as some are gone forever like PlayStation home which I accidentally got a trophy for near its closure so I grabbed as many as I could before it closed. And others either require online plus or their servers are down and required Dlc.

One thing I'd add is that, at least on Xbox, you can see what percentage of people have gotten each achievement, and those figures provide an interesting look at people are playing games, or whether they're sticking with them for the long haul.

I only care about them in the sense that they are another thing to do while playing, and can often prolong the games I've been playing for awhile longer. But I think I've only got 5 or 6 games that I've gotten every achievement for, and I have no problem skipping the ones that just aren't fun (usually collectibles)

I was obsessed with my Achievement points when it was new.

Definitely care far, far less now. Usually don't really pay attention to them anymore, but if I really, really like a game sometimes I'll take a look and if they aren't too crazy try to get all of them. Some new stuff, but I tend to do that with old games that get re-released, like the Final Fantasies and Mega Man stuff, etc.

yeah, you can look at the global achievement stats on Steam too. iirc on PSN as well, but it's been forever since i've logged in there so i'm not sure.

and yeah it's definitely interesting sometimes seeing what the percentages for things are.

I remember reading from some dev or other that they always put an achievement right at the very start of the game just to see how many people who have the game are actually playing it.

I have close to a 24K gamerscore and dont have a single game 100%.

That said I did pay more attention to achievements on the 360 as they were a newer concept and many developers put thought into them besides just kill X amount of X enemy.

Yeah, that was a big contributing factor to my trophy hunting. If I saw only .1% of people who played game had the platinum then I shot for it. Often I realized why so few had it because often times there's at least one bullshit trophy. The rarest platinum I was able to get was like a 2% or something.

Steam has this too.

Though on Steam it can be really sad. I remember Payday 2 had an achievement you get for playing your first heist and I'm sure less 50% of people had gotten it.
