I'm seeing this be a common desire among people who review or talk about games for a living. Motherfucker, just because you guys review 30 games a week doesnt mean they gotta be shorter.

I like my long ass games (even though some are unfinished because they're long). As long as the game isn't dragging its feet to artificially lengthen its playtime, I say keep em long!

yeah, not EVERY game needs to be some 500+ hour epic (read: slog)

most games today have very little replay value as a result, and take way too much time away from other games

25 hours is the sweet spot for me because I can beat one game of that length per month without going crazy and spending all my free time playing

I like a tightly designed 8-10 hour game without filler, opposed to a broad, open, filler-loaded game that takes 30+ hours and is mostly travel time like RDR2, BotW, or MGSV.

fallen order was about 20 hours for me and I feel like that's the absolute sweet spot for the vast majority of games

Why does every game need replay value exactly? If it was really good once who cares if it's too long to go again or lacks NG+ or extra modes or whatever?

Getting your $60 out of it, I suppose.

You own it to play it, right? It's not just a trophy.

The longer the better imo.

The game should only end went it stops being good.

Longer games are fine if it isn't repetitive or filler. That's why I liked witcher 3. Every side quest was unique. The only annoying filler was all the treasure in skellige

I never got the complaint that a game doesn't have replay value.

If you enjoyed it, wait a few years and play it again and it will basically be a new experience.

I am very much willing the entertain the argument that games should have a movement towards shorter lengths (not all games, stop), but coming largely from an industry I have little respect for and who has everything to gain monetarily by that being a thing, I'm just gonna smile condescendingly whenever they suggest it.

I miss old arcade style games. Challenging. If you can get through it all in a reasonable timeframe.
