I mean, there are way more guys who want to be girls compared to girls wanting to be guys.

The whole transgender thing is fascinating to me. There is a massive inequality of whos transgender though. Biological females who transition to male seem to be almost nonexistent in comparison to all the guys who are transgender.

I think ftm are way more subtle than mtf, like it's more likely that you wouldn't know if you walk passed a transgender man compared to if you walked passed a transgender woman.

Like I believe it's close to 50:50 but we don't notice ftm so it gives the impression that mtf are way more common.

Also, penis implants is like brand new territory but boob implants been around for awhile. Maybe this frames your pereception.

Might just be the result of some biological difference. Not everything in nature needs to be equal. Not to equate this to transgenders at all, but there are also far more male pedophiles than female for some reason. These things just happen.

As for WHY, I have no hard evidence to back up this theory but it probably has something to do with how gay men versus lesbians are perceived societally. It's possible that what you're seeing is a byproduct of people exploring their sexuality and finding it easier to think they're a straight woman in a man's body than a gay man. It could also be due to the fact that men are so traditionally starved of emotional affection that the feeling (or thought) of being treated like and being able to freely express emotion like a woman just feels really good and thus "right" which, combined with trying to figure out their sexuality leads to that conclusion. It may also be why the vast majority (60-80%) of trans people "grow out of it" and just become "regular" gay people (https://www.transgendertrend.com/children-change-minds/).

I know a couple of transgenders before they transitioned. They were just kind of dorky guys, a little weird. But then they got boobs and started larping as a Stacy because they're quite passable and now they get a lot of attention and flirtation. Even from straight guys.

Its tough to find data on this, largely because (1) there are currently few measurable and/or standardized criteria (e.g. physical, social, political, etc.) regarding what might or should constitute a transgender person; and (2) problems with locating and accounting for this population are compounded by the relative invisibility through which many transgender individuals exist in their daily lives. Marginalized by political, religious, legal, medical, and other cultural institutions, transgender persons encounter levels of discrimination that range from simple misapprehension and/or exclusion by an uneducated public, to explicit acts of sexual and physical violence. Indeed, many in what is often referred to as the mainstream, including transgender individuals, are first exposed to the idea of transgender through media that often sensationalize and misrepresent the issues most salient for this population.

However if were going solely on the hard data that we do have, the TCs premise seems to be relatively sound. Certainly though, there are counter-examples. For example, Japan has a 1.7-1 ratio of FTM to MTF trans people.

Mechanisms of sexual differentiation are different, probably has something to do with it.

Males and females are differentially susceptible to all sorts of different neuropsychiatric conditions. There's a real reason NIH is pushing sex differences research rn.

Statistically I believe there's a lot more gay men than gay women, but a lot more women who consider themselves bisexual. In the same way I could imagine that a lot of women (or I guess biological females is the more proper term in this context) who struggle with gender identity and gender conformity find themselves at home in a less extreme end of the spectrum. For instance, embracing the identity of being a tomboy.

I'm female and was thus raised as a girl/woman, am dysphoric and dysmorphic, spent my youth telling people I was a boy, did the beginnings of a soft social transition in college and had one elective surgery that people would call 'affirmation surgery' or similar today, but I do not identify as a man. I could likely answer any questions you have, though.

I haven't actually done any research on this, only a perusal of the current literature on it. It's hard to tease apart these factors. And the nonhuman work is, well, nonhuman, so they can really only tease apart the biological factors.

Hard to get female mice to do dishes and make sandwiches and male mice to lift weights and spend all night at the bar with their bar pals.
