Anyway, curious that they wouldn't recast Edna, Troy McClure, or Apu, but will recast the kids.

probably because it's easier to kill off adult characters and darker to kill off kid characters

They only kill you off for VA reasons if you're married to Flanders. Everyone else was just retired.

as the show continues into forever this is going to continue to be an issue that I assume theyll address on a case by case basis.

Specifically I think the difference between Russi Taylor and Marcia Wallace is that Russi did a bunch of characters and put on different voices for them, so she kind of disappeared into the roles, but Marcia was just Edna and was basically doing her own voice. anyone taking over that character would have to be doing a Marcia Wallace impression.

I think these two probably set the model for how theyll address future deaths/retirements. Like if they lose Tress MacNeille theyll recast those characters, but no one else would ever be cast for Sideshow Bob. Its about how tightly the character and performer are linked.

Pretty sure the show will die before any main cast member. It's pretty much on its last legs now and barely escaped cancellation a few times now.

I haven't watched the series since like season 14 but Martin was rarely the focus of an episode and Sheri/Teri were barely anything besides background characters that annoyed Lisa or Bart so it's not like they were characters that were that important to the series like Lionel Hutz or Edna.

no she actually dies. she married Ned but then the voice actress unfortunately passed away so they killed Edna off
