this has been my most anticipated game in years and so far has exceeded the hype. about 20 hours in and i am absolutely loving the direction it has taken and love the characters of the new class vii.

Still waiting for Geofront's zero translation before I play CS3.

I'll probably reply zero on easy having played it before.

Might do the same for Azure so I can get to CS3 faster.

I'm loving the hell out of it. I'm on the first day of chapter 2's trip and...I can only say this game thus far has exceeded my expectations. But yeah, for anyone wondering, Zero/Ao playthroughs are definitely preferred for CSIII. Though understandable if anyone hasn't due to their situations, but at least look up summaries.

I'm also considering just replaying everything. Played the trails trilogy before XSEED updated them with turbo modes and etc. Also installed some mods which implemented the voice acting from the Evo releases.

I originally played CS 1 & 2 on PS3 so it might be nice to replay the PS4 versions too. The saves even carry over.

I'm loving it. It doesn't feel like I've spent that much time into it because the pacing is pretty good.

People aren't kidding when they say it's CS1 done better.

I'm only 22 hours in but really enjoying it so far. It's most definitely living up to expectations.

I stopped playing for the night but I'm just outside the ruins of Hamel. Looking forward to getting back into it tomorrow.

I've barely scratched the surface (First field study day) but I can't find much motivation to carry on. The new class members don't interest me at all and I was tired of the school setting in the first one.

I finished chapter 2, going to eat a late dinner and start 3. I feel like I'm going at the slowest pace in the world.

hell yeah. i am in chapter 4, just got to the field exercise camp in heimdall. trying to complete all the quests in the game and get all the possible ap. it has been amazing in gameplay/character development/story/pacing the whole way. probably already my favorite series of all time but so far i think cold steel 3 is the best game in the cold steel saga

I agree but let's be honest, it's not exactly a high bar to set after CS2.

i loved both 1 and 2. the story/characters/worldbuilding make it for me and i think they have been consistently amazing the entire way through

hell yeah i have been dedicating almost all my non work time to it. i will play it again in a couple months or so after i finish. the trails games are definitely my favorite series of all time and i think cold steel 3 is the best of the cold steel series thus far

2 would have been better if the buildup past the cliffhanger in 1 actually paid off. Instead you spend half the game flying around revisiting the same exact places as 1 so they can reuse assets and recruit high school students while all of the cool stuff happens off-screen on the other side of the continent.

There's also the hysterically bad writing like how everyone talks about wanting to bring Crow back despite assassinating Osbourne, but when Scarlet is captured Rean talks about how what she did was unforgivable so she has to go and atone for her crimes. But Crow went to our anime high school military academy so what he did was alright, haha the shining bonds of Thors am I right?

imo the way they flesh out that storyline is great. it is a complicated situation and they tackle it with nuance and all the characters clearly have conflicted feelings about it

I'm on day 1 of chapter 3 trip and still adoring this game so much. I even like Musse now.

I'm at 45 hours and still on chapter 2. This is going to be a long game. I'm still enjoying it though.

Doing the cutscene endings for chapter 3, and fuck, this chapter was really great. Especially the end-chapter dungeon with Juno Fortress. Probably the only time a JRPG forced a split-party mechanic and I actually enjoyed it. Plus, playing as Aurelia was hype. As. Hell.

Musse's becoming a favorite, too. Lord, what is this world coming to. I hated her so much at first lol.

Gameplay wise, Musse is a better version of Altina.

I need Sen IV now though ;_;

musse is actually really powerful and a good combatant and i love her personality and character. the game was so damn good, i am upset we have to wait years on 4 to be localized

It's pretty funny how many posts from different people I'm seeing on GF and Reddit about impulse buying Cold Steel IV after finishing III. I'd be doing the same if the translated spreadsheet wasn't kind of iffy and had NPC dialogue. NPCs are too important for me. :(

Seriously. Im not going to buy a new PS4 for one game. If the PS4 actually had a halfway decent game library, then it might be another story, but its basically holding hostage one of the few newish games that I really want to play.

you are moving along pretty well. i p much marathoned the game but once i got past chapter 3 it really hit its stride imo. the game was great from start to finish but the end of chapter 3 to the finish of the final chapter is unparalleled to me

CS3 released in Japan on Sept. 28 2017, English release on Oct. 22 2019 (And would have been in Sept. if they hadn't pushed it back)

CS4 released in Japan on Sept. 27 2018, so English release could very well be Sept or Oct of 2020
