17 y/o Darcy Krueger was BANNED from her senior HOMESCHOOL homecoming dance in Florida because she decided to wear this instead of a DRESS!!

She showed up at the Tampa bay Homeschool Homecoming Dance last friday and didn't think she'd be turned away by her outfit and said "I was very surprised. I called my mom and i was telling my friends about it because i couldn't really believe it". The dance is explicitly for students who are home schooled as they all come together for their final year at the senior dance

Her mother, Melissa shared photos of her outfit in an upset post that said her daughter was denied entrance because her outfit was not "ladylike" and they refused to let her offensive outfit in upsetting Darcy

The Dress code did not explicity say her outfit was not allowed by girls as well

She said she went shopping for a dress but didn't find the one she wanted so she went with this instead and said "I already had this in the closet and i was like, this could totally work. I could just dress this up and feel good about this"...

Melissa sympathizes with her daughter and couldn't beleive organizers despite dressing up and putting make up on for her last dance as a high school student

She said "As a mom, i was shocked. I thought there had to be a misunderstanding. What century are we in? I was very upset..there was no one else to talk to"...

Users on social media appeared to be just as baffled as one said "Seriously? What the heck? I remember attending my friend's homecoming dance and i wore pants and a dressy top. She's dressier in this than i was"

Another said "Your daughter is gorgeous. It was great you stood your ground. The school rules were ridiculous. Terrible judgement on their behalf. That's not the type of message they should send out"

The school posted the rules on their fb where it doesn't explicity say these outfits are not allowed other than it has dresses listed for a "semi-formal" dress for "young ladies" and to plan their attire in a conservative manner while not wearing "revealing outfits"

They said Darcy was the only student turned away from the event and offered her an opportunity to come back with a dress but instead refunded and banned her

But Melissa says it's more than just the money and that it was her daughter's senior year and to see her get ejected from her own dance where any other dance would allow her outfit is insane.

Darcy doesn't plan on attending any future dance organizations by the school as Melissa says her daughter has a good self worth and that they are a good "Christian Family" who don't support risque outfits either but said her outfit should have been allowed as it was very "conservative"

Do you think it was fair to ban her?

If the school wanted to get technical, it could consider that shirt as a plunging neckline but it looks like a pretty damn conservative outfit to me. I imagine there were probably a few girls that were dressed much more provocatively than her at that dance.

It looks like nightware. It doesnt really look like formalwear and at the very least its questionable semi-formalwear, and the instructions clearly state that questionable dress would be turned away.

Well, the dress code says "semi-formal dresses" for women, and she's clearly wearing pants, so I guess it's fair they didn't let her in; but it would've been nice if they'd made an exception since her clothes seem sufficiently formal and unrevealing.

They need to find the woman who didn't let the girl in and ask her what exactly she was thinking.

do people really not know what a romper is? they've been getting really popular recently and are probably not as formal as a dress, but definitely not casual-wear. I don't see what the issue is. If it's really about her not wearing a "dress" that's pretty fucking stupid. If it's about that outfit being too risque that's even more fucking stupid.

In any case, whoever denied her access is fucking stupid.

It's definitely casual, it just isn't pyjamas or a holey hoody.

In this case she's actually not in the wrong providing it fits into the schools dress code policy. Also banning her isn't right too. I find it odd they just banned her and not let her return in another outfit.

It looks nothing like nightwear to me. I wonder if you've ever seen ladies/girls dress in semi formal clothing before. Still I suppose the school thought otherwise for reasons.

Time you got a eye test. There is a differences. Although typing shit into google isn't the same as seeing people in real life so my point is still valid. This is semi casual.

Cover up what? Her arms, legs, belly etc are fully covered up. The top part even fully encloses upto her neck.
