The level design is often just super linear hallways and arenas, theres next to no sidequests, and everything feels very spongey

I'm just up to the vault on Promethea and I have been surprised myself. I'm hoping that the game opens up after this since it seems to be gearing up for all the collectibles that you can't interact with at the beginning. Currently just seems like one "dungeon" map after another with a side quest or (maybe) two after you beat the boss.

The sidequests seem lacking for sure. Also I dont think having different planets was really necessary with how small each area is.

I'm enjoying the game a lot, maybe even more than 2, but any sense of exploration the series had is basically all gone. They have so many cool nooks and crannies that just lead to a fucking ammo box.

Yeah I'm there in the Jakobs swamp planet. But every planet before seemed either small (Athenas, Pandora) or just kinda empty (Promethea). I was so stoked when I got to Promethea and I left pretty disappointed tbh.

Honestly im having a blast with it, currently at lvl 30. Just a heads up some side quests on previously explored planets open up but you have to literally go back to the planet to see them. Its a bit better than Claptrap saying "there are new missions on the new haven bounty board" every 5 minutes, but ill take it over the game giving you 5 side missions at once.

Comedy is hit or miss at times. I'm on the jacobs swamp planet and I can pretty much tell how the game is going to end. Maybe ill be surprised but doubtful.

This is my first borderlands. I really like it so far, my only issue is that the skills seem very underwhelming.

They couldn't steal Aliens Colonial Marines money to fund it this time so..
