About 2010 or so. Theres some surprising good songs from new rappers since. And then theres old school rappers still in it. Though that seems to be decreasing less. Or like Eminem other than a handful of songs hasnt been near as good as he was in the past.

Rap today is just as diverse as it ever was. Which means if turn on the radio a lot of stuff will sound the same, but if you bother to do some digging (easier now than ever before!) there's lots of really great creative music out there

In my opinion? There are two key points thst separate good rap from bad rap:
1. Melodic and/or harmonic content. Drums and bass are cool and all but I like it to at least have some sort of texture. And a melodic chorus is nice, but not mandatory. 2. Content. When your song is about hookers, violence and/or your own ego I don't have any desire to listen to it. Now, that may seem like painting with a broad brush but I actually do like quite a bit of rap because it satisfies both of those requirements. --- 53 LIII 0b110101 p16 0x35 ... Copied to Clipboard!

That same content is discussed in rock, metal, punk, pop, big band, etc music genres, but people only care when it's hip hop.
