I don't really have strong feelings on drowning valley but I really don't care for celestial resort at all

Another Medium distinctly on the side of the UT soundtrack i like a lot. If only it was in the first match instead.

Two Years Gone might actually be my outright favourite on the Iridion set ugh. I'm not sure which town theme I like best in V, Waning Twins Party is super good too. Not to mention the FM versions being really strong in their own right.

I guess i'll add that if i did ratings for today it'd be like

Celeste - Celestial Resort (Good Karma Mix) - Drowning Valley is nice (particularly the oboe section), but I don't think it should have been among the seven. I enjoy the different harmonic patterns in CR, and the melody is always throwing interesting stuff around.

Thousand Memories - A Little Witch Struggles - Close match. I like AM's slightly strange tonality and I dig those arpeggiated melodies. ALWS has more variety, has a few awesome harmonic moments, plus it's got jazz piano and stuff. I think I'll need to listen to both again tomorrow.

Etrian Odyssey V - Town - Source of the Morning Glow's Smiling Face - yet ANOTHER close match. I was going back and forth on this one, but the town theme is very nice once the piano melody enters, so I think it wins out. I prefer EO4's town theme over both of these.

wow this first match is painful. definitely prefer chrono cross overall because of the top half but drowning valley is the weak point in the track list to me. dang

I like some things about that Thousand Memories song. Pretty early on (and it repeats in the song later on), there's a wailing sort of sound that stands out & I'd definitely take it over either of the songs in the first match for that little bit alone... unfortunately it's not in that match. Still a nice surprise that was worth drawing attention to, even if I can't quite bring myself to vote for it in the match it's in.

I'm not impressed with the first match. The Celeste soundtrack has been very hit-or-miss, and Celestial Resort is another miss. Drowning Valley is pleasant, but not special.

Another Medium has a cool dark tone to it (the intro here kinda reminds me of old FM synth soundtracks). Great jazz piano in A Little Witch Struggles. Better match here, but it's not particularly close.

I very strongly prefer this EO Town theme to the previous one we just had, and that's mainly just because I like saxophones a lot more than the Chuck Mangione trumpets we had in the last one. 2YG is pretty cool too, but it gets repetitive kinda fast. Close match.

CR's some jazzy good fun. Don't really remember it from the game for whatever reason. Chrono Cross's choices continue to confuse me. The game has better songs than what got nominated! This is still good though. Contains some elements of Frozen Flame, though I like that track better.

Another Medium is real good stuff. Undertale tracks often fall into that "good but not the best" area for me, so it's easy for them to win against lesser songs. Little Which is quite nice too, though some parts are better than others. I think AM's probably more consistent.

Lounge music eh. Can't say I care for it that much, though it's not bad. Iridion's not quite my thing either, but I do like it.

Celestial Resort is decent, but not all that great. Kind of a mish-mash of various EDM sounds that doesn't really result in anything particularly spectacular. Not bad though!

Drowning Valley is definitely more my thing. I really like this song. Very cool nature flute kind of song. The more darker parts add a very mysterious vibe to it that I like. Like you're going in search for something and you're dealing with the unknown of what might be there to stop you in your tracks. Or maybe the thing itself that your searching for is something foreboding.

Oops suddenly plans came up and now I won't have time to come back later to do the rest of the writeups so you guys only get this one for match 1 today. Sorry!

Oh no! these songs are meeting all of my stamdardddddsss Undertale

Celeste was fine but the hokey minor key beats were too distracting for me to really get into all the neat sounds and layers underneath.

Awh it's my favorite Undertale song vs. cool kaonashi1 nom that i also really love. All of these 1000 visual memory unit matches have been against soundtracks that i have some existing emotional resonance with so this isn't fair at all but my heart belongs to the funny box man and his lava puzzles satan hellzone

I think pacific would Bite Me if i voted against iridion 2 so it's very good that i don't like this etrian odyssey thing at all Manfred Linzner is a German musician. He worked as the main composer for Vicarious Visions. He mostly composed music for handheld games but also scored the music and sound for some console games. He goes by the name "Shin'en". On another note Another Medium is just as great as I remembered and Drowning Valley has a wistful taverny vibe to it that I LOVE___&!!!

going for the obvious picks here for me, but both of their opponents were also good! Both close matches

snubs match is alright. Two Years Gone is a lot more fun and kinda adventurous while Town just kinda feels there to me, so it didn't end up being that tough of a decision.
