Project S-11 - Geil Glacial Park: 9.5. More solid chiptune goodness from a solid chiptune soundtrack. These songs are all great. This one is my favorite of the three so far; the way it opens up from quiet into this beep-boop world is magnificent.
vs.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - Sophisticated Fight: 7. I've always liked this battle (what) theme. Unfitting context aside, it's light and jazzy and a nice song on a walk to the park. The last section before the loop is particularly neat.

Aurora Memoria: Philosophical Data Session 2093 - SoftBank: 7.5. Aurora Memoria strikes me as the same type of soundtrack as Project S-11: if you like one of the songs, you're likely to like the rest. This is no Prelude Bedroom, but it's good. I love the "soundscape" of these songs, like they should accompany polygonal loading screens.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe - Soul of Sectonia: 5.5. Man, these modern Kirby songs are all...okay, I guess? I've given some of them high ratings, but when I go back and look at those ratings, I remember literally nothing of the songs. Not a single note. I just know, no matter how much I am or am not enjoying this song, it will be no exception. Not sure what it is about modern Kirby that almost universally doesn't have any impact on me. The one song I remember so far is Galacta Knight, which I likely only remember because I know it from an older Kirby game.

Hmm, Glacial Park is a bit better than some of the other S-11 tracks. Still has some lame parts at the start, but at its peaks its real good. Sophisticated Fight isn't super high tier for Trails, but it's still quite nice. Close match.

SoftBank is okay. Feels kinda like a typical shmup song for some reason. Sectonia's quite a bit more interesting. One of the better Kirby tracks I've heard in this contest.

Beyond the Seven rocks. One of my favorite Sinobuz songs. Town is okay, in an 80s sitcom sorta way.

The first two matches are both excellent... and it was hard to choose what to vote for, too, especially the first one. I so badly wanted to vote for Project S-11, but Sophisticated Fight has that kind of jazz that really appeals to me. I also wanted to vote for an AM track for once, as Softbank is my favorite one in the OST, but alas.

S-11 has pretty quickly become one of my favorite uses for the GB chip, which is weirdly harsh and not in a way keeps me coming back. So I'm not even really sure how Glacial Park and all the rest are able to get away with also being that and yet so much their own thing at once.

Aurora Memoria is in my top ten favorite video game soundtracks i feel like i have said this before. So cool to see this soundtrack connecting with an audience like this.

Yeah wow, EO4 comes swinging out of nowhere with a weirdo elevator muzak pick that actually really appeals to me. IIDX is a swing-and-a-miss though. Just the kind of trance sound that fails to resonate.

Yet another busy day for me, so no huge write-up. Just extremely happy to be voting for Project S-11:!! And also I can't believe how good SoftBank is... I'm kinda blown away by it! I feel bad for voting against Aurora Memoria last time it was up because of how great this is! Anyways, nice music all around today. Listening to these songs in the car today was a blast and it also involved driving through a canyon which was equally amazing___!!~

Been pretty busy lately so I don't really have a lot of time to think about stuff to write for full writeups so here are some more abridged versions of my thoughts.

MATCH 1

I believe last time, the song from Project S-11 was good enough to get past a lackluster opponent, in part because the Project S-11 song did some things that appealed to me. This time, though, Geil Glacier Park is more typical of the kind of stuff I don't really like about the music I've heard from this game thus far.

Sophisticated Fight is very good! I feel like with songs like this that NFUN tends to play for people often, I end up liking them more. Not that I ever disliked this song, but now this song feels a little more special? I don't really know, but what I do know is that Sophisticated Fight is a clear vote here.

MATCH 2

Close match. Both really fun songs to listen to, but Soul of Sectonia is the kind of Kirby song I actually like and I'm feeling it just a tad bit more.

MATCH 3

Another very close match. Beyond the Seven is a very inoffensive EDM song that's nice to listen to. I really like peaceful songs like A Town Embraced by the Azure Sky. I'd probably rate these two songs about equal, but I'm really in the mood for peaceful music today so I'm voting for this one.
