Metal Man's Metal Blade was the most useful of the special weapons (half of the bosses were weak against it), but Wood Man's Leaf Shield was very handy in some areas, particularly ones with moving platforms where you could just stand still and let the shield do all the work.

Metal Blade was the best weapon, but Metal Man wasn't the best boss. Air Man was a more interesting fight, as was Crash/Clash Man and Bubble Man.
Wood Man's fight was stupidly basic and Quick Man was annoying. Even in terms of interesting design, I'd probably put Air Man ahead of the rest. --- Gamefaqs cannot handle my #BrokenBrilliance ... Copied to Clipboard!

Metal Man. Not only does he look badass, but his blade is the most useful weapon in the game and ends up being my default weapon outside of the bosses.

well, I voted Quick Man since he's my favorite, but I think the actual best fight is Metal Man. It's challenging but not impossible to dodge his blades, they sound super badass, and they fire at random intervals. Plus Metal Man is jumping up and down randomly, really high, so it's not easy to hit him, and then there's also the conveyor belt which can change directions. It all adds up to a really great challenging battle that isn't overly difficult, and has a lot of little things going on all at once, and it's not at all predictable.
(only downside is apparently it is cheesable, and also Metal Man is weak to way too many things  --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Even though Metal Man is super easy, he still has the most interesting battle. Jumping and lobbing spinning metal blades at you as the floor moves and occasionally changes directions. There's no easy win (which is funny because of how easy he is) you actually have to fight the guy.
