If you believe Trump could do anything meaningful with gun control in our government system then I have ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. Trumps executive orders would be as useful as Obamas when he moved on gun control.

they have one of the lower gun death rates in the country. Texas has more, but isn't one of the highest. The most gun deaths happen in the place with the loosest laws like Arkansas and Alabama

Why do people still blame the guns? Because it's easier?

Alright. I see your confusion. You misread my post, and now finally you acknowledge the true inflection of my post, which is the why and how a person could commit this, and not just what was used. Because as it stands we have several thousand laws on federal and state levels that regulate, restrict, outright ban, and otherwise define firearms, but we are known the world over for our pitiful healthcare system, which undoubtedly extends to the mental welfare branch.

It's not the availability of guns. It our working and living conditions. Our society values our ability to place work over our families or friends, romantic partners and dreams. The average person in a real job only get 10 days of paid vacation a year plus 5 holidays.

We're expected to dedicate 40 hours of the week for work, and then 20 more if you actually want to succeed in American society. The average person can barely afford an upkeep of $2000/month which is what you basically need to get by and live a mostly crummy life. Home and car values aren't proportionate to average earnings.

Theres too many people born with a silver spoon in their mouth who can't possibly understand the struggles of the average person because they don't know what it's like to start working when you're 15 or younger and throw away the social life you desperately need when you're a teenager. They don't know what it's like when mom and dad don't have the assets to let you quit your full time job while you're in college because it's "too stressful"

Our people don't have the proper opportunity or resources to live in the United States, because if we were all given equal chances the rich people wouldn't be able to have their 5000+ sq ft luxury homes

Uh...yeah. I feel like you're about to counter with examples of Asia with their gun control, but we are not nearly as heavily monitored as the Chinese or shut down as quickly by the likes of Japanese police. They still have stabbing sprees in Asia.

The point being that excessive work loads are causing people to lose their minds and commit violence. People aren't allowed to blame the system for the shortcomings of life because there's very little one person can do to change it. Instead, they turn to racism or radical ideas and commit violence against the world that they feel wronged them.

But neither Sandy Spring, Fl High school, nor Charleston church shooters were working? I don't believe El Paso was working, and he definitely didn't mention it in his manifesto.

Secondly, wouldn't there be a higher correlation between people with high work demands/inability to provide and shootings?

Thirdly, I *will* counter with Asian countries - in an even larger sense. Have you seen the poverty and financial struggles of people in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, etc? Are you saying ALL of their police forces are quicker to respond than American police forces?

Fourth - if you are saying "China's stabbing attacks are like the US gun attacks", shouldn't they have the same rate of per capita attacks?

We need to keep in mind that the impoverished countries you're mentioning are nowhere near the size of the United States of America with substantially less cultures clashing against each other. Yes, many of these countries have faced bloody skirmishes and just awful destruction in general, but when talking about societies we need to remember that production and sale of guns in the United States is incomparable to any other country in the world.

If we were to outright ban all future sales of guns except for hunting with strict policy and regulations, the only effect such legislation would have is creating an even more massive black market for firearms. Guns are already quite expensive. If you make them unobtainable, plenty of people will seize that opportunity. It could create even more violence outside of mass shootings.

I'm not trying to say that China's stabbing attacks are proportionate to gun terrorism in the United States, but I do think the case can be made that their heavy surveillanced lives deter would-be attackers. Here's the thing about places like Japan and China. They're xenophobic. They mostly reject outsiders which results in a homogenization of culture where the mass of people follow what society has set for them.

The United States is not the same. We have hundreds of cultures mixed together in one giant country where customs differ from state to state. We are all very different from each other and have different beliefs and dreams. Capitalism is competitive in nature, and not everyone can keep up. What does a rabid beast do when they're beat down and backed into a corner? They lash out against everything around them.

Any time, really. Problem is that neither side ever really tends to be serious about having a debate.

Oh shut up.

The pro-gun contol side has been "serious about debate" for a century. It's the anti-gun control side that pushes them away and says "It's too soon."

When it's always too soon because another batch of corpses is created every other day.

Don't both sides this shit mang. The only "side" that afraid of talking about gun violence is the side that is afraid gun violence might hinder them owning or buying guns.

And in another topic

@Malcrasternus posted...

I'm one of the few that have ever given gun control debates an honest shake in the past. I'm having a bad week so I'm failing myself on being that guy, which is my bad, honestly. I'm often way more open about this stuff but today, I'm just not up for anyone's shit right now.

It's just annoying seeing the same busted lines that are either for or against gun control, and during a debate that person will give me the Irish goodbye and go on to repeat the same busted lines in another topic. Very rarely have I ever had a good, or even decent gun control debate here.
