Like, even Game of Thrones is going to be largely forgotten in a few years, referenced here and there but not the juggernaut it is now. Most shows are that way, only of major pop culture relevance while they're still running.

But how long do you think the relevance of the Simpsons will last? Especially considering it's hardly coming from the episodes that are running now.

I haven't watched new Simpsons since the early 2000's and I still quote and watch the earlier seasons all the time.

Should have been retired years ago.

They ruined their legacy with season after season of straight garbage. Look at Seinfeld. 9 seasons, hasnt been on the air since the 90s but still on TV constantly rly, highly regarded and people continue to talk about it to this day.

If the Simpsons ended while it was still good it would be in a very similar place. Now when I see it on tv I pray to god its not anything after season 12ish

I think it's pretty dead currently. It being canceled would probably make it popular again from all the news coverage.

Pretty sure simpsons is currently just something that's on, no one cares or talks about it. The biggest milestone is it reaching the 30 season mark, but otherwise people would only talk about it again if it was canceled, because then that would be something new to talk about it

People still talk about it all the time though

Either way, it's going down in history as one of Earth's longest running shows. And its influence on media will be felt for decades to come.

Online, I mainly see people who haven't watched in decades but who can nevertheless quote entire scenes from the first 8 seasons

I think Simpsons is a perfect example of a show that people in the 90s would have wanted to run for 30 years only to realize that a show can peak and decline drastically.

If it does get canceled, I feel happy for the voice actors who wanted to leave for a long time now.

I'm amazed that it still gets the ratings it needs to be renewed every year.

I figure it'll keep going until Dan C., Kavner, Cartwright, or Smith hangs it up. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens in the next 5 years, but people have probably been saying that for awhile.
