ALso whatever the issues in the us are it goes beyond gun laws by far. I have guns. My dad has guns. Half my friends have guns. Guns arent uncommon in Canada by any means.

You can get magazine fed semi automatics here. And there are a ton of legal to own guns that can have minor easy to do modifications to become basically fully automatic. Those modifications are illegal but theyre also incredibly easy to do.

Granted, it's from the post WWII Soviet military....

A lot of millennials hate American gun culture.

The REAL problem is that idealism only goes so far and if you can stake your belief that you aren't going to be subject to lobbying and large financial backing once you reach the upper echelons of American politics, you're deluding yourself because you won't get elected either. In the VERY LEAST, you're going to get pushback from the party itself for not aligning with their goals and will be subtly taken down a peg in order to make way for someone who will.

Only chance we will see a difference is if the mass shootings starts to hit close enough to the heart of the ruling politicals.
Like something that kills enough relatives to the people in Congress or a direct attack on the Capitol Building.

The problem with the term "military rifle" or rather "military style" that it's never properly defined or is always defined as any weapon that looks scary.

In fact I had an argument with someone on twitter the other day that didn't realize that the Remington 870 which is a-ok in his book for civilians to own as a hunting shotgun is used by the US military.

So what is a "militery style" weapon or gun?

I would have to think these latest ones will be looked at in the future as the tipping point. Three in a week with two being within 24 hours with 32 people dead I believe and a few dozen more injured, and I'm sure some of them will die as well. The amount of outrage that will boil over this week is not going to be pretty.

Though to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the only way gun control is enacted is if gun control supporters just say fuck it and get a bunch of guns and start shooting the more prominent gun supporters. The whole "live by the sword" deal.

What if mass shootings were perpetrated by specific members of government to force people into desiring more police control over their lives and the abolishment of gun ownership rights, but instead people just became entirely tone deaf to the entire thing and started ignoring mass shootings in the media like the majority of people already do.

Everyone in the US will be wearing body armor before that happens.
