CE I don't see the fucking point anymore. I've had 4 onsite interviews and 3 of them have ended with rejection, the 4th I may get an offer but it's an absolutely shitty role and I'd be miserable there. These people can smell something from me, I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I am constantly being rejected and I know it's only going to get worse the longer it goes on. I don't see the point in living. I really don't.

No this feels worse because I know these companies are looking to hire me and I clearly passed the phone screenings and know I have the qualifications, so when I go to these interviews I am doing something that makes them go from "I want to hire you" to "I don't want to hire you."

What exactly are the positions you're getting interviews for? Manufacturing for instance is going to require a different mindset from something like engineering. Does the company have a technical interview portion to showcase your problem solving skills? Or is it strictly behavioral? Is your interview pipeline mostly through recruiters or are you talking to actual engineering staff?

I recently acquired a software dev position, and I can still remember what the general impressions were to certain question types, so hopefully I can provide some help for you if I can get some more insight into your situation.

Honestly what the fuck are you going to tell me

Manufacturing is focused on OEE and 6Sigma, engineering is more creative problem solving and new ideas

HR interviews I need to play the game and show I'd get along with the company culture, technical assessment from engineers I need to show that I care more about collaboration and solving technical problems

I am so fucking burnt out with this God damn song and dance. Companies would be a whole lot more successful if they didn't waste time and resources on looking for a fucking unicorn and then putting them through a detrimental and wasteful interview process that only disqualifies good candidates for inane reasons like "he touched his face too often" or "his handshake wasn't strong enough." Maybe instead of looking for your unicorn you make your company better and reward your employees to make them stay. You think Costco or Chik Fil A simply hires better people than Walmart or McDonald's? Fuck no it's the environment they promote that makes the employees enjoy working there.

You told us in a topic yesterday, which I remember because I posted in it, that you spoke to an HR person in a way that was clearly going to sour them on you if it was a close choice between you and another candidate. It was explained to you how you need to "play the game" up until the moment you put pen to paper and sign your contract.

Okay dude I tried to be polite as possible because I understand how stressful the job hunt is; I was unemployed for awhile before getting my break...messed up on interviews, applications everything you name it. If this is how you respond to people trying to provide feedback, then I think it's pretty evident you aren't ready for to work in industry.

If they say anything that's not truthful that harms a former employee's chances of being hired they can potentially get sued; that is why most employers only disclose the start date, end date, and salary

Have you ever considered working for yourself? I have two side businesses in addition to my professional job. The side job that pays me on a daily basis is tutoring. I tutor people in everything Algebra 2 and below, as well as the SAT/ACT math section and college Algebra.

Literally charge people $60+ per hour, with no shortage of clients willing to pay for it. Maybe that's something you could try to get into? That's something that you can literally get into at the speed of now and there is almost no cost associated with it other than gas and maybe sometimes printing material out for students.

Sounds like youre getting to the interview stage which is the hardest part. Four interviews in a short time is great

Regarding this potential offer that you think you wont like: sometimes you have to settle for things to build your resume

I had real bad grades coming out of college (in your case, the comparable is being fired I guess) so I worked an unrelated-to-my-degree job for years, not something I hated but certainly something I hadnt seen myself doing. And that gave me experience that allowed me to find a job I love (so far) recently. Being employed also really helps with job searching because youre not so desperate to find work

At worst, just recognize with your supposed savings youre much better off than most people whove recently been fired

Ive had god awful luck in TN too, got let go from a job after two months of being there when I first moved out here and havent been able to get back into medical since. Ive had some really good interviews too that I was genuinely shocked about when they never called me back. I have no problem getting interviews but then dont hear back, usually seems like they prefer to go with a person with a degree over experience and thats nothing I can fix right now. But I will say being let go really messed with my confidence, so I cant even deny not every interview was a great one, when usually I interview really well.
I forget what kind of car you drive but if you want, I can give you an Uber driver reference code- its an okay side gig that takes no time to get into and is cool to do when youre bored/stressed/need to take your mind off this stuff. Plus making any amount of money when youre out of work is beneficial.

They can probably sense it in the interview - that you're going to get up at 3am to work out for 4 hours then drag your tired ass into work and zone out and spin in a chair all day in a disengaged manner.
