ICE has been prioritizing those who have committed serious crimes or who are in gangs, but that doesn't change the fact that there still should be consequences for entering the country illegally.

A lot of it is though i feel they should be documented. There should be files proving they exist here just like any other us citizen.

What makes you think that the majority of these people aren't trying to become productive members of society? They have jobs. They participate in their local economies. The US used to have tons of communities where no one spoke English, so I'm not too riled up about that personally.

As it currently stands, documentation just looks like a way for ICE to easily round you up after you've been assimilated into the country for fifteen years. Hell, just look at all the people who want the citizenship question on the census without understanding what a horrifically bad idea that is. This country is not friendly to undocumented immigrants and it gives them no real incentive to "get papers."

It would be nice if we could completely overhaul the system. DACA was a step in the right direction, but we've seen how Trump treated that.

Yes, to pass the citizenship test, you have to learn a lot of US/Constitutional history. It's bonkers to think that the president couldn't pass this test, but that's the reality we live in.

Definitely should enforce the law cause you want to deter people from sneaking in. Also it is unfair for those who go through the process to get in properly if there is a wide open backdoor.
