Ya got Joey Kablam, Jimmy the Wrench, Bobby Bagooli, it's too much. And the accents bros. I'm just about done with season 1 but it's been rough at times. The show is actually pretty funny though. Tony gives me ptsd flashbacks with his behavior though

What episode you up to? My only real complaints are the accents and the triggering. Otherwise I'm pretty into it

Just finished episode 5 about 30 minutes ago. Finally seeing some of Tony's potential.
I didn't realize the show started in 1999. It's funny watching them surf the internet or using pay phones.

I was watching it last year and I felt like it stayed slow >_>. I'll get crucified if I say it feels like it didn't age great. Obviously it's not bad, it just feels like a prototype to newer shows.

Yea yea I know it's a nitpicky complaint - I don't actually hold it against the show

Another annoying thing about it is all the fake american italian words they use. I gotta go thru that shit every day I don't wanna hear anymore haha

Yea the production values look really nice. I knew how old it was but I forget while watching it. They had a funny conversation about laserdisc vs dvd. Ah, memories

the show really picks up after the College episode (ep 5?), that really establishes Tony's character. season 1 is a little hit or miss but the show gets darker after that season and better imo

also the jersey italian guy accents are pretty spot on

Yeah The Sopranos is one of the few shows where the first season isn't all that great and it gets better later on. Mad Men was also like that.

I've often wondered if Sopranos is one of those shows that's worse if you try to binge through it quickly as it basically keeps you wanting more and more action while the show, by nature, can be EXTREMELY slow moving at times. Watching it live from like, middle of season 3 on wards what I loved about it WAS how slow building the pace and story lines would be, as it was easier to get invested into a long term payoff and would feel more gratifying when the action finally happened.

Granted, none of that has stopped me from watching the entire series like, 5 times, and some episodes I've seen close to a dozen times, so maybe I just enjoyed it far more than most lol

Gabagool

Yeah, I could never not at least grin or chuckle whenever anyone said gabagool or bru-zhoot.

A lot of the lines are hilarious too, like when the gay mobster came back and tried to argue that his heart meds messed with his head and made him gay but he wasn't really gay and he said he could get a doctor's note. Tony was like "what? He'll give you a note that says you don't like to suck cock?" or when Tony and Ariana? (Chris' girlfriend) got into a car accident and you see all the other mobsters on the phone and story gets more and more explicit with each call because they assumed Tony crashed because he was getting a blowjob. Tony's mother was hilarious too. That actress did a superb job with that character imo.

I watched it all the way through a few months ago and I didn't enjoy it as much as people had me believe I would. Aside from the fact that all of the characters were complete lowlives (the only one that had any redeeming qualities at all was Bobby), many of the storylines went absolutely nowhere or had shitty outcomes. And don't even get me started on the finale ending - worst ending ever to one of the most overrated shows.

honestly i always thought that one of the strengths of the show was how not everything was tied up, made things feel a lot more "real" and allowed you to draw your own conclusions about a lot of situations.

He has a lot going on. He's also hypocritical as fuck. I've never disliked the main character of a show/movie as much as I do him. He's just an ugly person.

I honestly appreciate what David Chase did with the writing. Like he didn't glorify Tony or really any of them. While Tony would have brief spurts of humanity, the show often reminded you just how much of a deplorable person he was.

So I left off at season 2 ep 2. I kinda started freaking out when the therapist said Tony's ma prob has BPD. I originally thought Tony had BPD (he still might), but the writers really know their shit since those close to BPD-ppl unknowingly pick up BPD symptoms

scary show

I watch this entire show like once every year or two. It's always a fun ride. Really enjoy seeing the massive family gatherings with all of the food.

I always found the character of Meadow Soprano kind of hilarious. Like she feels social justice is important then very willfully turns a blind eye to her fathers activities and how she benefits from all of that blood money. She gets worse in that regard with the later seasons.
