King buffet

Dainty wok

Buffet is shit like 8/10 times. If you get real lucky they seem to have their shit together and it is good.

Wok is kind of hit or miss, but more reliable than buffet by far

We used to have Emerald Palace, which was delicious. Now we have Golden Phoenix. G.P is expensive. I prefer some of the mom and pop shops over it tbh. There's a nice one downtown which is family owned, but hard to get to.

To be fair thats a hell of a leap. Theres actually even some ethnic overlap (Hmong people, for example) between the two nations.

i mean, i guess if you wanna go down the smartass route, then mexicans are asian, too, by way of native americans

come to think of it, they eat rice and meat too - coincidence?!

Both nations are actually quite diverse and youd be just as off-base characterizing the nation of China as a single collective identity, seeing as there are numerous ethnicities and languages and cultures that dont exactly adhere to present day borders.

no, thinking that china = china is not "just as off-base" as bringing up a vietnamese place in a topic about chinese restaurants

can't believe you're actually defending this "all asians are the same" rhetoric, but hey, i am on ce, so idk why i'm acting all surprised

Did you even read what I said? I said quite the opposite of all Asians are just Asians and rather said that China itself is incredibly diverse and as an umbrella it doesnt sufficiently define the multiple ethnic groups, cultures, and languages within itself.

And also mentioned the undeniable fact that there are ethnicities that actually cross over the physical borders of these nations, including ethnic groups that exist natively in both China and Vietnam simultaneously.

It's Vietnamese, but there's a place near me called 6-1-Pho.

Our area code is 614.

i like how a mod of all users is one of only two who's made a low-key racist post so far

pro-tip: asians aren't all the same

might as well have brought up what your local mexican joint is called too, since it carries about as much topicality

I'm well aware that all Asians aren't the same. I just thought it was a bit more clever than the Oriental Express Chinese place near me, so I threw it in there. No racist undertones whatsoever in my post so you can take that shit elsewhere.

the overwhelming majority of chinese are ethnic han chinese, and dialects aside, the overwhelming majority speak either mandarin or cantonese

and you can cite this smartass shit about "multiple ethnic groups, cultures, and languages" about pretty much any country, but desperately reaching bs arguments aside, china is still china

you can qualify a chinese restaurant as a "chinese" restaurant regardless of whether it's canton, hunan, or whatever other cuisine, and it'll all make sense and nobody will ever bat an eye because they're all still chinese

bringing up a vietnamese restaurant in a topic about chinese restaurants, though, is a complete non sequitur (barring possessing the thinking that all asians are the same)

-

And also mentioned the undeniable fact that there are ethnicities that actually cross over the physical borders of these nations, including ethnic groups that exist natively in both China and Vietnam simultaneously.

again, if you wanna play smartass, you can trace lineage back far enough to where you could say this about any two or more groups

stop. reaching.

and stop. defending. this bs rhetoric you claim to not be espousing but still totally actually are

oh, so it's not cause it just so happens to also be an asian establishment?

why didn't you irrelevantly and non-topically also bring up any other restaurants with quirky/funny/smart names in this topic about chinese places then

Its not outrageous to bring up a Vietnamese restaurant in a topic about Chinese food, and it certainly didnt appear to be racist. Fuck off with that victim complex bullshit.

There's this joint on Main Street that my wife likes for their hotpot called Colorful YunNan. It's also the only chinese restaurant in the area that seems to pull a majority Asian customer base so I assume the food is pretty authentic

Chinese food in the West is really like what the Americans call "American Cuisine" is an amalgamation of different regional foods, but most popularly Sichuan.

You can see the staples everywhere.

For the most part Chinese food in America is highly localized. I personally enjoy it a lot but would not expect to see the same dishes served in China. Maybe similar ones or ones with the same name
