I remember once talking to a coworker at the Golf Course that I worked with, a he told me in that the few years that he worked there that whenever a coworker got a new job, instead of putting in their notice they would most of the time just stop showing. That was mainly due the shit wage that everyone had and the fact that most people couldn't afford to put in their notice because another coworker told me that "it's all about survival".

I have never just stopped showing up to a job. If I quit (except for one time), I always put in my two weeks notice. The exception was a "quit or be fired moment" so I quit on the spot.

Yeah, Id put in notice prior to leaving. At least two weeks so HR and Payroll can do their thing and my manager can put out a post for replacement.

Legal Seafood in Boston Seaport area

My Restaurant Management internship turned into a prep position because I stupidly thought that would be a good fucking idea

Quit after my first day as a prep cook, I was miserable and totally unprepared. The staff were obviously expecting someone with kitchen experience and I only had dish room

I didnt really feel bad because they definitely didnt lose much

Nothing too exciting. Incompetent management had fallen in love with this one girl who was major ass kisser who hated me and another coworker. So they cut our hours to give them to her (because it totally makes sense to pay someone for 60 hours and 20 hours of overtime instead of two people 30 hours). They kept looking for a way to fire us because their pet wanted us gone and they found it

The good coworker posted on Facebook that one of our residents was transferred to a new facility. I said "really?" She did a HIPAA violation. Mine was guilt by association. Called us in the next day, one by one, to talk to us. Fired her on the spot. Gave me the option. Fired her sister just because she was related. She was not even in the conversation, bosses just didn't like her.

She sued and won for wrongful termination.

When I was 19 I worked at a call center that did surveys over the phone for market research purposes. We didnt technically sell anything so we were allowed to call people even on the Do Not Call lists, so people were always upset and bewildered that we were able to call them.

It was a terribly boring and soul crushing job and we always told to stick to the script which meant often lying about where we were calling from and who we worked for.

One day I just could not handle it anymore so I decided instead of going in for the day Id just spend the time finding a better job. Walked over to Target and they hired me on the spot making a tad more per hour than I was making at the call center.

Fast food cashier GM screwed me out of a raise even though I trained all the cashiers who were coming in the door making more than me. Plus I was burnt out after doing the job for 4 years dealing with rude customers and a snappy area supervisor and also being short staffed nearly every day.

I've always gave some kind of notice when quitting for something else. I don't just no-show and leave them wondering, because that's a dick move.
