Problem with you people is you moan about citations but then don't actually read them when presented.

Can you show me which of these links matches up to each of your claims? Forcing people to go through an unsorted link dump isn a good way to ensure no one has the time to check out the validity of your claims.

Whoa now, bringing that up just means that you just bitch about sources and then never look at them! Why would you want to know what source correlates with what marijuana hysteria.

I know, Im being incredibly unreasonable to ask for actual citations rather than a link dump. I wish we could all be more reasonable like UR.

Out of morbid curiosity, if he was able to show references for each of his claims with specific sources, would you actually change your mind and tell him that he was right? Or even if you don't do that, would your stance on marijuana use change?

i am not against marijuana as much as i am against dismissal of the negative effects of marijuana

this topic is a good example of that

i see some benefits but if given a decision to allow widespread recreational use or keep things they way they are now i would choose the latter

Well its because people use the well this can happen so itll happen to everyone! when listing all the negative effects. It just shows how naive they are. If you smoke marijuana, you lose ALL YOUR MEMORIES and your brain TURNS TO MUSH instantly!!!

Like chill out. Understandable to not like it, as its not for everyone (some people do get overly anxious, etc), but you dont have to try and worse-case scenario reefer madness people.

I don't see why we shouldn't ban nicotine since it's just a nuisance anyway.

I have never once seen somebody demand sources and actually turn around and say oh yes those sources have convinced me. People like you will bitch and moan and cause people to go out and waste actual time finding the references for their claims, but it'll never change your mind.

If you're not actually going to believe anything he says, don't waste everyone's time complaining about sources. Just say you don't believe him and move on.

Fair enough. I suppose there will always be a small sliver of the population that thinks even caffeine should be banned, and obviously they arent going to be onboard with marijuana. Say what you will.

I mean youre welcome to think that. But it makes no sense for me, asking him to back up his claims, to go through all of his links and find what claim theyre supposed to support. Do you think scholarly articles just vomit up sources at the end or do they actually at least have citations for every claim attached and then a giant list at the end?

UR will never actually cite his claims properly because his factual posts are 90% hyperbole. Thats why he leaves giant link dumps instead of real citations. This isnt new.

Problem with you people is you moan about citations but then don't actually read them when presented.

Can you show me which of these links matches up to each of your claims? Forcing people to go through an unsorted link dump isn a good way to ensure no one has the time to check out the validity of your claims.

Problem with you people is you moan about citations but then don't actually read them when presented.

Called it

All of them match up to my claims. That's why I chose those links. Hell half the links flat out tell you what the research was in the link itself.

But no matter what you will ignore them.

It's a stupid cycle.

"Oh you don't use citations!"
"Oh tell me which citation to read."
"Oh the citation you told me to read doesn't count! Therfore none of them count"
"Hey why don't you post citations!?"

You've already made up your mind, you don't care what scientists say

It's pointless.

And all this just to pretend smoking pot is healthy.

"UR LAZY because I won't read them!"

Right...

If I actually believed you would read a single link, I might do so.

But considering you've already proven that you will never ever read a single one and also that even if you were forced to read one you would just ignore it, lie and insult people, I simply don't believe you.

I absolutely love the fact "You simply have too much evidence, facts and logic, therefore you're wrong" is a strong argument in your mind.

I think that sentence alone sums up the attitude of people who are trying to deny that smoking pot is a bad idea.

"These findings are consistent with the idea of marijuana as a "gateway drug." However, the majority of people who use marijuana do not go on to use other, "harder" substances. Also, cross-sensitization is not unique to marijuana. Alcohol and nicotine also prime the brain for a heightened response to other drugs52 and are, like marijuana, also typically used before a person progresses to other, more harmful substances.

It is important to note that other factors besides biological mechanisms, such as a persons social environment, are also critical in a persons risk for drug use. An alternative to the gateway-drug hypothesis is that people who are more vulnerable to drug-taking are simply more likely to start with readily available substances such as marijuana, tobacco, or alcohol, and their subsequent social interactions with others who use drugs increases their chances of trying other drugs. Further research is needed to explore this question"

Even drugabuse.gov recognizes that it's BS.

Speaks volumes too that you intentionally cherry picked the weakest link, the Gateway drug one. Not any single one of the health related ones.

It also never said "Marijuana being a gateway drug is bullshit" it said "People who started smoking Marijuana tend to lean into other drugs and harmful life activites but other factors might be involved." That's what scientists do.

You can't go "They found a link but wonder about other factors therefore it doesn't matter." that's madness.

Not against it, but I'm less incline to hire someone if they're a pot head.

One guy I interviewed seem permabaked. He was slow to respond to every question asked, like there was an actual delay.

There were also a number of potheads that I've worked with that didn't perform as well as the non-smokers.

Maybe so, but it doesn't make it acceptable. Stoned driving is still dangerous. Stoned drivers still space out from time to time and those crucial seconds of spacing out can cause accidents. But don't just take my word for it.

Drugs are not an art or made by creative means. They shouldn't be compared.

Do you believe that we should ban unhealthy foods? Or do you limit this to things like alcohol, nicotine and caffeine?

I mean it's still food so no. Although some of the really bad stuff like artificial colors should probably be banned.
I don't see why we shouldn't ban nicotine since it's just a nuisance anyway.

Fair enough. I suppose there will always be a small sliver of the population that thinks even caffeine should be banned, and obviously they arent going to be onboard with marijuana. Say what you will.

I mean you got me there I like coffee and all that but I'm not fully against marijuana.

Legalized marijuana linked to a sharp rise in car crashes
https://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/legalized-marijuana-linked-sharp-rise-car-crashes-n921511

My article shows that there is no significant increase in odds of crashing when driving under the influence of marijuana.

Legalized marijuana could have just caused more people to travel to those states to buy it and more people driving to the store to buy it. It doesn't mean the actual act of people driving under the influence is the cause.

Actually it does. That was an older article, but here's a new study that came out 5 days ago.

https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/9/5/e027432
https://www.upi.com/Health_News/2019/05/16/Pot-legalization-increases-car-crashes-injuries-but-little-effect-on-hospitalization/5341558008414/

"n Colorado, motor vehicle accidents went up by 10 percent and overdose injuries and death climbed by 5 percent after marijuana was legalized in the state, according to research published Wednesday in BMJ Open."

Let's just be honest here. An increase of 10% is pretty significant.
