In Britain, it's the North. It's viewed as poorer than the South, less well educated, and with more "ruined" places to live. I think this is probably all true.

Although, there are Northerners that might have a few things to say about this. >_>

Yeah our capital in the US is really depressing, so many homeless people and robot businessmen/politician. Half the surrounding areas are entirely impoverished.

Heh. I suppose there are very few easily habitable areas in Australia. I don't think it matters, though, since most of the cities are around the coast. And what about Alice Springs? You forgot about the Alice!

Not undesirable in terms of poverty or crime, but some tracts of land are a bit remote. Can't imagine it being any fun to make a two hour trip just to buy groceries.
