Yes I grew up in a town of about 3000 people and when I was in high school a tornado came through and destroyed about half of it

No, you can usually tell when the weather is getting ripe for tornader conditions, so when the sirens go off, I'm in the basement.

I was sitting at a gas station in rural California off route 395 and a giant dust devil appeared in front of me out of nowhere. It was awesome.

A smallish one while in France while camping.

Were in a feasthall type thing and sister had gone outside to the toilet when it struck. Dad went off to try and get her to make sure she was safe, but the camp guides refused to let him out until he shoved him out the way and raced to get her safe.

Tornado's no, but I've also seen dust devils and they can be pretty cool. Never experienced any strong enough to do any real damage accept knock some people down, although I have seen a video of a woman pulled up into the air and dropped by one.

Yes. Three times, with the one in Rowlett, Texas, being the most recent. It was by far the most terrifying of the three for me. Category F4

Yup my father was a meteorologist and went storm chasing in the mid 90s. I'd go along on 3-4 day trips with him mostly for the fast food xD

The first one I ever saw was a skinny dark black one that ended up going through a small town in Kansas. We were outside the town and saw it as it left the town and was still carrying a small amount of debris. It really impacted me afterwards when we drove through the town and there were trees all over the roads, cars moved and scattered, and families outside looking at their destroyed or partially destroyed houses :(

Yes, but it wasn't a major threat. We don't get them often in NZ, and when we do they barely touch down and are usually far from any inhabited areas.

Waterspouts on the other hand, we get heaps of.

My middle school was almost directly hit by this one during school hours and I remember driving home seeing all of the destroyed neighborhoods and debris. I also remember the sky being unusually green that morning.

No I wish. We dont have those in Sweden

You really don't. Take the sum of all your fears and watch those pale as a wall of death approaches you at incomprehensible speed. The sky is wrong, the animals have long since fled after having sung a song of death and you quickly race through your mind of either options to flee or picking as appropriate a place to die as possible. You have maybe seconds at most to make your decision before it is made for you.

The Rowlett tornado was the only time I've seen one in person (I'm NE of Rowlett on the other side of Lake RH)

My house was directly in the path of that tornado, but it retracted for some time before touching down again less than a mile north of me. When I heard the sirens going off in Rockwall, we jumped in the car taking the backroads due east to get out of the way.

Saw the tornado off a couple miles to the north through the flashes of lightning as I drove. It was intense.

There's also footage of this exact tornado briefly swirled on fire. @_@;

Can't believe it happened the day after Christmas. That's the fucked up part.

Yuppers. Remember the date and everything. April 21st 1991 wichita, ks. Was visiting my cousins, i lived in london at the time, and i was 6 never even heard of a tornado. But that day we watched from their basement window as this tornado destroyed their school as you could see it from their house. They lived on an air force base and shit got wrecked. Apparently its one of the worst tornado outbreaks ever.

It sucked me and my dog up. I awoke in a strange land full of creepy hobbits singing strange songs. I was so scared I pulled out my tommy gun and blasted the lollipop guild.

The hobbits screamed and fled in terror. Me and my Tommy gun weren't having any of that. Ratatatatatat the bullets fed from the drum clip screamed!

A sinister looking lady in a ball dress suddenly appeared. I ordered Gus, my vicious german dog, to go for the throat. Blood splattered through the air as Gus shook his head back and forth. With a final twitch, the wicked lady was dead. Good boy.

Then out of nowhere a green lady was with me. She surveyed the ruined village and smiled. "Well done boy" she said. "You did the right thing."
She flew me to her castle on a magic broom. We proceeded to make love in every way possible while winged monkeys filmed it.

I knew this was my new home. There's no place like it.

Never seen an actual tornado, been close enough to hear one though, sounded like a freight train from hell. That was terrifying.

I have driven my car through a dust devil though. That was semi interesting
