I think for 2 reasons

1. Maybe they thought she would look too weird or silly in live action

2. I think they wanted us to partly sympathize with thanos and think "well maybe he has a bit of a point....". And you can't do that when he wants to kill people just so he can get laid

She was supposed to be in it but the Russos dropped her completely.

They didn't want to spend time introducing her essentially.

To get a comic accurate Thanos you'd probably need a Thanos movie, and it would be weird as fuck and turn most movie goers off completely I think.

They made the right call here.

Its this. If his goal was to get laid, he would be yet another shitty Marvel villain.

The other major change that hugs me is Cap and Bucky being the same age instead of Bucky being like 12 during WW2. I guess I understand why they changed it but it changes the dynamic. Now they are just friends instead of Cap being like a big brother/Father figure to Bucky

I don't think that's the reason. The Russos go on record saying she was gonna be in, but decided it she was too metaphysical to introduce a character like that.

It has nothing to do with his motivation or sympathy. That itself is the product of their difficulty trying to introduce such a character.

I also don't see much wrong on the getting laid plot point. It makes him even more psychotic instead of some stupid heroic angle where he is trying to save the Universe.

This was a carryover from the Ultimates, and was also a change that I don't understand people having a problem with. It works way better on film this way.

Because it likely would've resulted in a shallower villian who is impossible to relate to unless you are a school shooter or something.

Plus the issues of introducing her/associated problems and all the idoits who would've confused Mistress Death and Hela.

They also would have had to have that devil guy Mephisto too it they wanted to be like the comic. Both he and Mistress Death hang around at Thanos's palace throughout the story.

It's also just sort of weird. How the hell did they ever justify a 12-year-old fighting in WW2?

I don't think any of them would really have an issue with movie Thanos though. Their problem was that he was keeping the gauntlet, movie Thanos seems to have given it up after the snap.

I'd say the plan makes juuuuust enough sense that you could be a lunatic to believe it rather than an idiot.

What I took from the movie was that he proposed this plan on Titan. He knows it will save his people and his planet and, in fairness, he was probably right. We see the ruins of his home, presumably the result of overpopulation and the depletion of resources. So he goes on a quest and begins doing this to planet after planet after planet. It becomes an obsession, a way to make up for his loss and to prove that he was right. And somewhere along the way, he learns of the Infinity Stones. Rather than change his plan and face the horror of what he's done, his madness has him consider only one option: continue what he's doing on a universal scale in an instant.

Wanting to bang Death is no big deal.

Making a female copy of himself to try and make Death jealous probably would have been weird in live-action though.

My problem is sympathizing with the overarching bad guy we've been building to for a fucking decade.

I don't want to sympathize. I want to hate the guy

Why would people get confused with that? In Thor she was described as being a war lord daughter of Odin which Odin later imprisoned. She later got out and tried to reclaim the throne. She used the endless flame to necromancy an army but that is what the flame was described as able to do so it wasn't really indicative towards her being a "devil" character ability.

I mean she is sorta a version of the "devil" in the comics. But if you know enough about comics to know that bit of lore you should at least know enough not to mistake Mistress Death and Hela.
