Charles Manson believed there was a coming race war which black people would win and they would be unable to lead and would turn to Charles Manson to lead them.

He had his family kill those 8 people to start the race war by trying to frame the black panthers.

He believed he would wait out the war in an underground oasis in the desert they would descend down with a golden rope.

He believed the Beatles were speaking to him through their music telling him to do all this.

Just one of those things that gets more batshit crazy the more you read.

I thought it was that Black people would win the war, but the small group of Whites who survived (the Manson family) would come out of hiding and send Black people back to the fields, because Black people are apparently incapable of leading a society.
