This seems to be a case of some idiot throwing a fit over clear store policy that the employee can't change and when they are realize they are losing grasping at straws to maintain victimhood. Having a dude scream "ma'am" in an outrage might not immediately register, especially if it is already a high stress situation.

I didn't watch the video as I'm at work. I can understand misgendering once, as sometimes it can be hard to tell (and, well, mistakes do happen), but if you continue to do so, after being corrected, that's just a dick move. Is that what happened?

Nah basically some woman was on her phone telling someone else its gonna be a while until she checks out because a young man is throwing a tantrum about the return policy.
The man was yelling at the clerk telling him he better give his fucking money back and not store credit. The woman who referred to him as a young man set him into an aggressive defense mode about his gender. At one point he grunts several times like a gorilla. The clerk really didnt really do much except enforce GameStops return policy.

If the words are legitimately meant to demean, there are venues to voice complaints. The employee is at worst a minor asshole, and most likely just a confused kid caught up in a dumb situation.

There is no indication that I can see that the person was intentionally trying to antagonize her, and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt due to his several apologies. Furthermore, I have no sympathy for people who threaten to beat up customer service employees, regardless of who they are. I'm assuming the "balled" typo was a topical pun. Anyways, that is clearly a man. And she does look like a hooker in drag.

I've had transgenders politely tell me they are transitioning or have already and would like to be called X and I gladly obliged. The employee in the video would have likely done the same. But that isn't the context in which he was told what the person preferred. It was screamed at him with a threat of violence so even a "fuck you" wouldn't have been completely unjustified outside of her being a customer.

This is just a small sample of the s*** people in retail have to deal with.

Most incidents arent recorded and posted online for the world to see. People only come in to a store to shop for a few minutes or so. Theyve no idea about the happenings of the rest of the day. And depending on the store & location it can get pretty crazy.

One thing people might not realize working in this kind of job is that you sorta go on auto-pilot when dealing with customers. Sticking to the same script - so to speak. You get used to repeating the same phrases over and over and over and over again. It turns into an auto-pilot situation. Force of habit.
