Serious Cat posted...darkjedilink posted...That's code for 'stop giving us bad reviews, and you can come back.' The statement followed declarations by the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. (which includes Times staff writers), New York Film Critics Circle, Boston Society of Film Critics, National Society of Film Critics and Toronto Film Critics Assn. that Disney films would be ineligible for year-end awards consideration for as long as Times film critics were banned from advance screenings. It's not simply 3 newspapers. It's multiple widespread critic associations, which you would understand if you read the article. If these associations stop previewing, reviewing, and talking about Disney movies that's a massive advertising avenue that disappears, which means Disney now has to pump even more into their own advertising efforts and bloat their budgets even further. We're living in a time where Rotten Tomatoes scores, for better or worse, heavily influence the habits of movie goers. There's a reason high scoring movies use that number and tomato on adverts, because it sells. If people go to rotten tomatoes and see that there's no score there, it's a bad sign and it will keep movie goers from the theater. --- *runs out of topic naked* ... Copied to Clipboard!

I still don't understand the hate nor love for this movie. This was just a mediocre movie all around. I also wouldn't be surprised if what the guy is saying is true.

All this "alt righties are just triggered about SJWs" defense around TLJ pisses me off. That's all a distraction. It was a shitty movie because it was a shitty movie. Had nothing to do with social statements or whatnot.

Its pretty clear the anti-white male angle theyre going with in Star Wars.
The good guys are now black, asian, latino, female, and the bad guys are mostly pale angry white men screaming their lines. Its just more evidence of Kathleen Kennedys feminazism. --- Sig User Logic https://imgur.com/lA5fm7w ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ha ha, okay. The movie studio that owns half of Hollywood, and a third of television media, had to give in because three newspapers weren't going to give them awards. Yeah, not even a basic understanding of the facts of the story as presented. Again the ban wasn't over reviews, it was over negative press coverage of Disney that was not retracted. Look at Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, or Les Moonves and tell me that you honestly think that a newspaper would value access to press screenings of movies over the bigger story of a powerful studio buying/threatening their way into good reviews. That's what's not plausible. DarkRoast posted... All this "alt righties are just triggered about SJWs" defense around TLJ pisses me off. That's all a distraction. I'm more than willing to concede to anyone who has taken a more scientific approach, but I'd spot check Rotten Tomatoes while TLJ was in theaters and a good 30% of reviews was exactly like that very post. --- I are Serious Cat This is serious thread ...
