I always thought it weird that the most important lights on your car are the only ones that cant be tested by yourself easily.

Some cars do some don't. My old car did but my Honda Civic doesn't.

I'm not even sure - hopefully it does.

I do appreciate the TPMS as it lets me know if the pressure is low, what the pressure is, and what tire it is.

dont they build the light system on cars with resistors in the bulbs so if one blows your blinkers speed up?

My dad's (and then my) 93 Buick Park Avenue had a whole panel at the top (near where the interior light switches are) that had a list of malfunctions and lights so you could easily see if something had gone out. That was pretty cool.

My newer Passat has a light to indicate issues with... *a* light, though it doesn't specify which and you have to troubleshoot it yourself.

It does. In fact, that actually happened a couple years ago. The funny thing is, I got pulled over on the way to the shop. I didn't get a ticket or anything. The officer just asked me if I was aware of it, which of course, I was.

I also had a reverse light burn out. I got the same light on the dash, and the "R" lights up as well, to indicate that it's a reverse light. Very nifty.
