Something good and not too expensive that I can find in most liquor stores that will give me the best bang for my buck? Meaning the most alcohol content.

Vodka is out since it always makes me throw up no matter how much or little I drink. But anything else is fair game.

If taste is a factor, there's some half-decent brandies like Paul Masson that are dirt cheap. There's also Mellow Corn. All hail Mellow Corn's 100-proof, corn-flake goodness. I love drinking, hate being drunk, and Mellow Corn is kryptonite.

Bacardi 151 or Cruzan 151.

If you don't like rum, Wild Turkey 101 (but I think they also make something stronger).

Proof is double the percentage. So 40% is 80 proof. 151 proof is 75.5%

Percentage is the more accurate alcohol content.

I buy 2x high gravity talls for 3.20 a couple. it's cheaper than buying hard liquor

Agreed. There's a certain threshold where flavor is absolutely going to be compromised.

Just drink wine if vodka is too much for your system I doubt you'll have much better luck with other hard liquors. Vodka is some of the most tame liquor.

Yup. With only 60% non-alcoholic content it's going to taste pretty strongly of alcohol :P

Completely valid. That said, it's likely that he got stupid drunk on vodka one night and barfed his guts out. I couldn't stand the smell of tequila for a few years after such an experience, but I've gotten past that.

Mikes hard lemonade. It has the word hard in the name so you know its heavy stuff. And if you feel like living really dangerously you could try Mikes harder lemonade ;)

If you are going just on price per alcohol content, this is probably your best bargain. Tastes like crap though.

Yeah, I find vodka will lose taste more quickly than darker liquors so it may be easier to just drink it like water and overdo it entirely.

I second this if you are looking for something strong that is very drinkable. A little SJ and some diet coke is a great way to get a buzz going quickly or black out slowly.

There's other wonderful overproof rums out there, still. Try Wray and Nephew.

Cruzan 151 is what I got now. Same proof, same burn. Not sure about the price though. Probably cheaper than Bacardi.
