Many consider Trigger to be the better of the two, but how many actually prefer Cross? Thought myself a minority but apparently more and more people like Cross more

trigger is a classic, cross is a mess

Cross is a fantastic game, but a really shitty sequel. That's the issue with people, I think

Also, I think the game really needed to better use the party members. Give you another slot or branching storylines. You know how you split up in Final Fantasy VI near the end and you used three different parties? I think CC could have really used something like that during a lot of the game. Or at the very least give you another party slot

However, the thing I hated the most about the game was the leveling system. I hated how the stat gains worked after each boss encounter. To get the most out of it, you had to go and level up everyone until they stopped getting benefits before the next boss fight or you miss out of gains. And some boss fights were almost back to back

Both are great games. Its been a long time since I've played either game, but I'd give a slight edge to Cross. It doesn't work as a sequel, but it is still an amazing game.

Trigger is such a better game character-wise and impact. Was there ever even a good reason for them to include so many pointless characters in Cross? Was there ever like, some story justification? I only got to the frozen sea with the Trigger cast ghosts and lost interest because it was too hard

I haven't touched Chrono Cross since I played it when it first came out tbqh, so I really can't comment. All I know is at the time, I didn't hate it but I didn't like it nearly as much as Chrono Trigger.

Trigger is painfully easy. Robos too strong.

Cross starts off decently challenging but once everyone can easily heal the whole party, challenge plummets which isnt very far in the game at all.

And i think telling a main character early to go away by themselves is actually the better option. Seems weird.

it's alright from what I played of it, but I never got to the nitty gritty of the plot and story. One thing I can say for absolute certainty is the music is top tier easy
