Aquaman was tracking a strong 30M Friday for a 70-75M and similar to a Venom opening but now it appears it's tracking below that at 27.7M for a 68M weekend which is below the 80M for Venom and that ended with a 213M US total.

It received an A- cinemascore however which is better than the B+ Venom received so it may do better multiples but it appears the crowded box office really did shed audiences to different movies.

Analysts are seeing a front loaded Aquaman with a 20% dip on Saturday as Paramount and Mary Poppins and Spiderman will receive bigger highs as Mary Poppins and Bumblebee also saw an A- as Spiderman remains the only movie this season to receive a rare A+ cinemascore.

People were expecting a bigger pop since it outgrossed Jumanji in special previews at 3M vs 1.8M as well

Bumblebee also won over Mary Poppins as it's a 22.6 vs 22.3M right now as some are betting on Poppins to overtake it while Spiderman gets 4th at 17.9M

The Grinch is still raking in dollars for a 9M weekend and Jennifer Lopez Second Acts is next at 7.1M

The Big Box Office Bomb is Welcome to Marwen, much like Mortal Engines which has disappeared only got 3M as Universal is the biggest loser this holiday

Did you expect a higher opening for Aquaman?

The theater I went to had all the Aquaman showings sold out. Even the late ones. I'm hoping it does well. It was awesome.
