I think it might be because the chip data mightve whats compromised. The reason I say its nice is becuase its much quicker going places. Like when buying stuff.

The strip thing just reminded me of earlier this year when an employee(foreign) at a grocery store did not know how to use a card, he took the card from the customer and kept swiping it up and down and I told him a few times the strip in, then I just reached over(not rudely though, more like "Like this") and swiped it for him. The customer ahead of me got his things and then I went ahead and paid for my things in change and he asked me what the dime was and I said 10 cents lulz.

Look at the chip and see if you see extra lines carved into it from the readers. Some of the machines are horrible and scratch up the chip pretty badly, so it couldve gotten damaged that way. In either case you might consider going into your nearest bank branch and asking them for a new card that has a working chip because its far more secure and you really dont want to have to deal with missing funds just because the chip broke.

My nearest branch is 2 hours away. But it might not be the chip being damaged. And it maybe more secure, but its probably not perfect. I dont even know what makes it more secure. I think someone mentioned it once, but I forgot. But Ill be good with the swiping for at least a little. Back to the way it once was... Quickly being able to buy stuff and head out...

Since when Americans can use chip in their cards? Last time I checked, USA was the only country on the world that didn't accept the chip.

There are still a few places that dont accept the chip. But its been used for a good while now. At least a couple years. Its more common now, though.

Speaking of compromise, Bank of America are sending me another credit card, again, because some vendor I shopped at is apparently compromised. As simple as it is, just annoys me to have to go about updating all my accounts with automated payments. Would be nice if BoA discloses who said vendor(s) is so I can either stop shopping there or use alternative payment methods.

No, not if its in the card. But we do use contactless phone payments with the card digitally attached frequently.

Its easier to skim your pin/card number with the magnetic strip over the chip.

It has something to do with digital coding on the chip vs the magnetism on the strip

The chip is stupid. It only seems to last for about 6 months before going bad. It's so frustrating to have to insert it 3 times before it lets me swipe.
