Some church called and asked if I needed a prayer. I hung up though. It was a pre recorded voice. <_<

Not scared, I have numbers saved of people I know and if it's important they'd leave a message. Haven't heard a spam message in years.

Lol imagine saying someone is "scared" to answer the phone because they don't want to waste their time with robocalls

If it's a number you know, it'll be saved. If it's a number you don't know but is important, they'll leave a message. Simple as that.

There's really no good reason to pick up for numbers you don't recognize- particularly when you take into consideration that answering automated calls will possibly register your number as active (meaning more calls).

no, there is no "spam call epidemic"......if you are getting spam calls, its because you got your number onto a database of phone numbers to be autodialed because you were gullible to enter your name and phone number into a contest for a free cruise or a website told you that you would get a free iphone if you signed up..........its really that simple

Imagine answering every call that uses your area code and 3-digit exchange code after hearing "your account balance is at 0$ OMFG text *w7#3 to 69420 to refill your balance NOW" when your provider doesn't have any kind of "balance" system... and also after calling back a similar sketchy number 1 minute after missing the call and getting a "this number has been disconnected" message.

Do you fucking even have a phone?

see my previous post.

The only time I ever participated in anything like that happened 10 years ago when I got a call about a scam cruise opportunity and I hit 9 when the options were like 1-4 only and got the message "thank you. you will be removed from our list" followed by a hang up... and it was on a work landline at my previous job and it was slow so I only didn't hang up because I decided it was fun and I would fuck around. My current number has never been connected to that one.

It doesn't matter what your number or provider is. You WILL get spam/scam calls from numbers that are XXX-XXX-???? where the 6 Xs correspond to your number. This is done because previous spam/scam efforts were becoming ineffective due to sites like whitepages.com's reporting system. Now, "familiar looking" numbers are generated to make calls, then immediately disconnect if they fail. If you aren't yet aware of this, you literally do not use cellphones at all.

It's entirely possible to inherit a phone number that is already on a list or has simply been part of a data leak.
