no, there is no "spam call epidemic"......if you are getting spam calls, its because you got your number onto a database of phone numbers to be autodialed because you were gullible to enter your name and phone number into a contest for a free cruise or a website told you that you would get a free iphone if you signed up..........its really that simple

false

see my previous post.

The only time I ever participated in anything like that happened 10 years ago when I got a call about a scam cruise opportunity and I hit 9 when the options were like 1-4 only and got the message "thank you. you will be removed from our list" followed by a hang up... and it was on a work landline at my previous job and it was slow so I only didn't hang up because I decided it was fun and I would fuck around. My current number has never been connected to that one.

It doesn't matter what your number or provider is. You WILL get spam/scam calls from numbers that are XXX-XXX-???? where the 6 Xs correspond to your number. This is done because previous spam/scam efforts were becoming ineffective due to sites like whitepages.com's reporting system. Now, "familiar looking" numbers are generated to make calls, then immediately disconnect if they fail. If you aren't yet aware of this, you literally do not use cellphones at all.

Yeah, @Roxborough4Ever is so fucking full of shit, I've never entered my number online and I still get spam calls.
