I?m a bit indoorsy usually so : P Their house is awesome. Used to be granparents'. It's very retro but has had various updates over the years (Was built in late 50s iirc. Grandparents were born in 20s) but was sort of designed to be post-modern at the time, so it's pretty unique. No 2nd floor (has a basement though) and L-shaped, with a main section and bedroom wing (5 bedroom, 3 1/3 bathroom, could function as up to 7 bedroom if someone slept in the now TV room and someone in the basement). It's on a hill and there is legit protected land (Audubon society or something) bordering it, so it's kinda a nature-oriented property also which is nice. Interesting info tidbit, it is across the street from a property that is rare in America and much more common in the UK. My aunt actually owns it and lives there. It's a farmhouse, but driveway, which is now just a driveway, used to be a fully functioning road, and still is officially listed as such, so there is no house number and her address is listed as just the road itself (Can be supplemented with a rural postal route # for clarification if needed) which I think is pretty neat. In any case, the Times when I go there are some of the most peaceful I experience in this era of my life. Stress and anxiety always disappear and I know no better means to recharge. They often talk about moving back out to western part of the state to be closer to me and my stepsisters (brother is still in their neck of the woods but could possibly relocate back this way if services equal to his current ones were available, which they likely are), and that will make things more convenient, but at the same time would be sad on a personal level because we're all really attached to that house. My grandparents also used to own a cottage on a pond that also had retro and at-the-time post-modern elements but was more 70s oriented, including the ridiculously ugly but somehow appealing color schemes of orange, dark yellow, brown, maroon and olive green, including an orange metal fireplace in the middle of the living/TV area, with no wall behind it. Fuckin thing looked like a big upside down funnel. It also had a dark brown porch, which I always liked because at night, the lights would attract moths to the screen walls and in the morning, the pond behind it sparkled from the sun for hours. Fuckin thing looked like a big upside down funnel. We had to let that go probably a decade ago and I still to this day have frequent dreams that take place there, and when I do, I always miss it for a while. Jesus christ lol I'm tearing up and babbling my way down nostalgia lane lmao.
