Why does everyone ALWAYS need NES and SNES on every new console? You can play those games on nearly every other console. I just dont understand why this idea of every game youve ever released in the past has to be available on every console you ever make from here on out. Yes its nice and convenient but the fact that people get so upset about it confuses me.

Well there's only ever gonna be Classic Consoles for that. It's only ever gonna be digital games for SNES titles unless they decide to release some sort of collection like Sega did. But that's basically what the Classic Consoles are.

so did the 3ds have many snes games on the shop? i just had a regular 3ds and wanted to play the SNES mario game so I was looking for the port of it on the eshop and it said i needed the "new 3ds"....is that just cash grab garbage or could the normal 3ds really not run it

Join a group. It's literally like $3 a year. Also, the switch haters in here are wicked. Nintendo and the Switch are mwah. They make colorful GAMES with pure characters.

No, the regular 3DS couldn't run it. It doesn't even process GBA games very well

What are the priorities internally at Nintendo in terms of maintaining established brands, courting third-party developers and choosing which ports to bring onto your consoles?

First, lets talk about third-party. From our perspective, we want all of the best third-party content to make it to our platform, whether thats coming from the big publishers and developers or whether its the independent community. As an example, were thrilled that Celeste won [best independent game at the Game Awards] and Overcooked 2 won [best family game] and Dead Cells won [best action game]. These are all games that are on our platform and are performing exceptionally well for us. So, we want that content on our platform and were thrilled when Bethesda gives us the level of support that they have or Take-Two gives us the level of support that they have. Now, when it comes to games from previous Nintendo generations Its a statement of fact that the Wii U was not as successful as we hoped it would be and yet that platform had fantastic content. Now that the install base of Nintendo Switch is so much larger, it gives us an opportunity to bring those great games back and share it with consumers that maybe hadnt participated in the previous generation. For us, were clear that, in terms of Nintendo-developed games, we want to bring new experiences from our best franchises to Nintendo Switch, and thats what you see with Smash Bros. and Pokemon. We also want to make sure that if a consumer didnt experience a great game, like Captain Toad, that we make it available on the platform as well. For third-party, big or small, we want all that best content to come.

Methinks Xenoblade Chronicles X will get a remaster/port for Switch at some point then.

$20. I had to take out a second mortgage and pull my kid from private school but Ive managed to make ends meet. Nothing under the Christmas tree this year, though.

Just stick a paperclip into your Switch and you'll have every game for every console on it. I'm playing Rune Factory 4 (3DS) on mine as well, and my friend is playing Persona 5 on his.
