Because people worry more about furniture and physical stuff on their house that can be easily replaced with money but don't care about how smoking actually damages their own body.

I have a buddy that does maintenance at an apartment building and he showed me pics of one of the apartments where the guy smoked in. Walls were all yellow, nicotine and tar were dripping off the ceiling fan. It was nasty.

Yeah I saw an episode of Another Dirty Room where one of the hotels they checked out had nicotine stains and it looked like piss on the walls (I think there was literal piss on other walls there too xd)

I mean, as a smoker I can understand this, but it also extends to the fact that I have pets and the occasional guest and I don't want them to get second hand smoke exposure from particulates in the furniture/paint. Or for my house to smell bad and get nicotine stains.
