Processor - Quad Core ARM Cortex A35 running at 1.5GHz
Graphics - PowerVR GE8300
Ram - 1GB DDR3
Storage - 16GB eMMC
Ports - 2 X USB, 1 X HDMI, 1 X micro USB

will have to pick and choose what games I want in there when the modding happens but probably could double the amount of games that ships on it though

hopefully the iso's can be played as rar files to cram even more in there

definitely will be scrubbing all PAL versions of games that are in there and putting in the NTSC versions of them

at least for the games I would want to keep

like Tekken 3

What's the controller situation here? Are these literally just playstation controllers with the same ports as 20 years ago, or are they USB

Isn't the reported slowdown because the games are running in 50Hz?

Yeah, but people were theorizing they chose the PAL versions for performance reasons

so a minor upgrade from the Vita in all fronts. not a repackage of Vita TV but them using old smartphone parts instead.

should make hacking interesting, at least. it may well end up as just an android box. though until then i'll just stick with a Vita TV - that's PS1, PSP, Vita all flawless or close enough to it right out the box. after you hack it you can turn the game slot into a microSD and at that point you're set.

For what you get it almost certainly isn't worth $100 but for me half the fun is playing on a mini console so that's why I keep getting them

what you get in that box is definitely not $100, you're paying a heavy tax for cheap official Sony stuff. but if that's what you want, go for it. odds are good that thing will be hacked and people will try to get PSP stuff on it.

Cancelled my pre-order. Man Sony dropped the ball on this thing. The lineup itself was unimpressive (I pre-ordered before the full lineup was revealed) but then to find out that half of them are PAL versions and run poorly is an absolute dealbreaker. There's like 6 games on there that I want and don't already have in some form, so I can just track those down somehow when I feel like it.

Very good breakdown from Digital Foundry on all the ways this drops the ball.

TLDW random PAL versions aside even the NTSC games have issues that don't exist on actual hardware or even in properly configured emulation. This is just flat out a bad way to experience these games.

things we know so far

The Playstation Classic runs a flavor of Android/Linux 32 bits, ships with 16GB of memory, enough to store the games it comes preloaded with.

USB devices such as keyboards are detected by the device. Allegedly it is possible to access a secret emulator menu by hitting the escape key on a USB keyboard connected to the device.

The firmware of the device has apparently already been dumped, with some parts being encrypted.

Hackers believe the device should be extremely easy to hack once the firmware is analyzed.

Just saw a rumor that there are hidden games on it, already downloaded that just arent enabled.

Games that if they were revealed/enabled would have made it an INSTANT buy for me:

Ergheiz
Parasite Eve
Suikoden
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Vagrant Story
Wild Arms 2

just by the storage size alone we know they aren't on it. but they were all probably tested at some point and have some data leftover. the system being an android fork makes sense for its performance, obviously it isn't power that's holding the system back considering the PSP and Vita (TV) could each do PS1 games just fine. only answer left is the OS being a bloated piece of shit for the job.
