It's been pretty much proven. But they tried really, really hard to cover it up and find an alternative explanation.

The guy was the best driver in the world. No way he just crashes like that for no reason.

Any free documentaries on him? I watched a one hour show on TV about him and was impressed. Drivers of that time quoted him as having this magical ability to step into any formula brand, a Ferrari or lotus or Benz, he had a knack for adjusting his depth perception to the limitation of the vehicle he was in. You could give him any formula, and only Senna would be able to get the fastest lap time out of that machines capabilities.

Keep in mind this was the age before all the fancy computer traction control and ABS that do all the driving for you today. These guys REALLY knew how to drive. Those guys could cycle through manual gears as fast as an automatic car does today, crazy.

There was an entire event section in one of the newer Forza or Gran Turismo games dedicated to him, it's really nice.

And yeah, something was definitely wrong with the car. Nobody plows into that turn accidentally.
