Pegi 18 for Europeans and M15+ for Oceania.

My mom didn't allow M rated games in our house until I was like 15 so I would always go to my Uncle's to play San Andreas.

Was like 7 (lol) and could barely understand the dialogue (Thought the Ballas were called the Bandanna's)

Played Oblivion around the same time, but bought it when it was still a T rating so it was the only M rated game I technically owned for like 10 years lol.

I know now the ESRB is kind of seen as a joke and most places barely follow it but was just curious on others experiences.

I know I was allowed to play Daggerfall with my older cousin growing up because it was before the rating system. Of course now it's hilarious because it got the M in modern times.

going by the esrb's website, hexen: beyond heretic, but that's a technicality as the esrb didn't exist when that gam came about. at least not in the capacity that it does now with ratings boldly displayed on packaging

I honestly don't know. I don't think I played any on PlayStation 1 or n64, although some fighting games I played on those systems may have been. First one I know was M was probably San Andreas and I was in college at the time. Could have also been Unreal Tournament (I think maybe 2000?). Also in college. Then again, I played a Quake game in high school that was probably M.

Mortal Kombat might have been the first one I played but that was before the current rating system. also it was censored on consoles I think. so I don't know if that counts. maybe Resident Evil? I know that was ONE of if not the first M game I probably played. and that was maybe when I was 15 or 16

I recall playing GTA Vice City on my dads Computer once, i also recall him wanting me to test out some ps1 games he just had.. one of which being Silent HIll (Shortly after i gave that one big with a "No thank you, not for me" but that was it) around age 10?

I played Mortal Kombat on the Mega Drive before that (aged 7 or 8 I guess). Not sure if it had a rating at that point.

Being in the UK complicates things slightly. We have BBFC and PEGI ratings.

Not sure if the "M" rating applied yet but my first M rated game (or game that would've been M) would be the original Mortal Kombat on Genesis.

I had the typical American family who didn't give a shit about violence but sexual content was a no-no (well, to my mom at least; my dad didn't care about anything really content-wise and would have given me zero restrictions). So I pretty much played any video game I wanted from a young age because very few to none had graphic sex scenes or anything like that.
