None? You're clearly either just trolling or a nihilist. I legitimately don't believe that nihilism is healthy, at least not your approach.

Yep! Are you? Its great

Some people get mad, but I go to bed knowing their taxes come in my check and I get to do nothing!

that's nice. I make music on the side and collect extra money from that.

have fun never building a decent amount of capital.

Uhh..why would I need decent amount?

I only need the bare minimum

Hence welfare! You pay for my video games!

Do you feel any amount of guilt for the fact that other people pay for you to live? Do you not have a desire to make your way on your own?

No, no guilt. Im selfish and lazy

I'm not a wage slave personally, I don't work paycheck to paycheck. I work my job because I enjoy it and I want to live a life of more than the bare minimum. I've left a lot of jobs I didn't like. I don't settle for mediocrity in any aspect of my life, enjoyment is always my primary goal, and all aspects of my life right now currently compliment how I enjoy life.

Lol this. My state is a blue state and you cant get food stamps if you work full time for minimum wage.... because you make too much to be eligible lmao. $1200/mo gross income is the cap. Real great policy, really helps those who are trying but need a bit extra.

Unemployment you get about $400mo when you work a $35k job. Again, real great social program. You end up homeless but at least you can afford ramen if you can find a microwave lol.

Harsh dude. Are there not opportunities in your field though that are more challenging and creatively fulfilling? I've seen other posts where you described your current place of employment and a change might do you some good

I've noticed that to get to the "fun" work in a particular field, you first have to suffer through years of entry level crap like clear mentioned. You're doing routine work that isn't fun, but merely dictated and you are working with other people who are unmotivated and unwilling to learn.

Once you rise the ranks long enough either through promotion or vertical advancement by job hopping, you are usually given more flexibility in projects you want to work on and how you do them. The downside to that is that those promotions typically also involve other aspects of the job you probably don't want (i.e. budgeting, HR, compliance and reporting). So you are doing the parts of the job you always wanted to do, but now you are working 60+ hour weeks to get everything else done that comes with it.

To make matters worse, in an effort to cut costs, companies continue to consolidate positions, so you are either stuck as a specialist doing one task repeatedly with no deviation, or a generalist where are you are doing 3-4 jobs in one for the pay of just 1 job. It's pretty rough.

Basically what I wanted to say to @clearaflagrantj

Entry and mid level positions are often dull and repetitive. Gotta keep learning, job hopping, and climbing upward. I'm in my 9th year of IT and I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the awful job tunnel. Current job gives me 25% of the workload my previous jobs have given me, pays me 30% more, and lets me come and go from the office as I please. Work is much less soul crushing when you know you're not forced to be at your desk for a set amount of time.

I'm not quite at your level yet, but yeah, since my recent promotion my job is much more tolerable. I'm in and out a lot and pretty much set my own office hours. I supervise two people who hold the same type of job I held just a year ago and I can definitely see the difference in flexibility.

I've only been here a few months so I'm still testing out what I can and cannot do, but so far I've been enjoying the freedom a lot more. Upper management has already expressed an interest in promoting me from within once a position opens up in their area.

I love cars and I'm studying automotive engineering

Don't you think there are people out there who actually enjoy their jobs instead of being miserable every second they spend in it?

I went to school for mechanical engineering, I realized in my second year, the year where you focus on your specific major and take the core classes, that I fucking loved it. I knew without a doubt mechanical engineering was my passion. I felt so fucking accomplished and fulfilled studying that shit and succeeding.

I graduated five years ago, I've been in three jobs, everything you learn in school is thrown into the fucking trash. You're no longer surrounded by hardworking, intelligent peers; you work with ordinary people. The work becomes so dry, monotonous, and soul crushing. Studying to become an automotive engineer? You're probably going to end up designing a fucking gasket or a tire tread in Catia day in and day out. The real world is absolutely miserable, it's where passion goes to die.

Well shit. I'm halfway through a mechanical engineering degree

What exactly do you do at work? @clearaflagrantj

Well I work in a music store, I think a lot of people like where they work, the management treats everyone very well also.

Would I work my job for free? No, but I wouldn't do anything for free, I wouldn't cook if I didn't eat afterwards, I wouldn't garden if I didn't harvest afterwards. I wouldn't game if there wasn't a good feel towards progressing, accomplishing in it.

If you think about it, no one really does anything for "free". There is always a pay off to anything you do.

Gotta hand it to you though, you probably wont live until youre 40 and get kicked out of your parents house. If you do live that long youre gonna have multiple vitamin deficiencies opening the door to life threatening diseases and be in a hospital, free of charge with Medicare. Plus a lot of hospitals actually have pretty good food, Id know as I used to work at one.

They even have outlets there and prob wouldnt give a rats ass if you hooked your console up to the tv. Well played.

People live till their 70s living off of McDonalds and ramen in the past and future. Medicine evolves.

My life expectancy is 60s-70s which is normal. I live in an apartment.

I already get free health care. I usually go to the ED for everything(colds, sprains, pain meds) and my insurance takes all of it.

Id say trolling but thats posting stuff to piss people off, not acting like a worthless piece of shit and being a strain on society, so I cant honestly say youre trolling.

Anyway, the math doesnt add up. How do you afford insurance on welfare? Wouldnt it make more sense to get Medicaid?

Also, please describe a step by step for those of us who envy the free time you have.

Whats the fastest way to get section 8 housing? I dont have a year+ to be getting fucked with some wait list.

How do I get enough money in food stamps to eat like a king when Im not a woman with children?

How do I get a livable monthly wage from unemployment and how do I win the disputes with my employers?

Afford? I don't "pay' for insurance. The government gives it to me via Medicaid.

Section 8? lol you must be urban. I live in a small town, where I can pay 400 bucks for rent.

I have enough money to eat the foods I want to eat. Eat like a king is relative, unless you are obese. Women with children...don't have any and DONT CARE

The flexible work hours at this job has eliminated my feelings of burn out that I would normally get every 6 months or so.

It's cool you get to manage people. I wish I could do that for the experience. Though I think I've decided against getting into management in the future and stick to some hyper technical position that allows me to work from home full time.

Jokes aside,

I find the more money you make, the more complex and expensive your desires become. I quit my career where I was basically a wage slave and just do warehouse work part time. Its easy, Im more fit, and its close to home so time spent prepping for work is pretty much from 8:20am to 5:15pm (Leave for work at 8:50)

Forget about simply the 40-60 work week, People dont include the time they spend in traffic and the time they wake up simply to prepare for work. And that all adds up. Im in a much better place mentally and physically and its enough for me to get buy. Sure I dont go travelling all the time anymore or buy the biggest and best toys around but tbh, when I was doing all those things I felt like i was doing it because it was what was expected not because I actually wanted to. I find I did these things too to justify how much of a wage cuck I was (oh yeah I need to go buy this to make earnign this money worth while even though I dont necessarily need or want it) I just want to be exist and enjoy my simple life.

Only annoying thing I have to put up with is during the holidays when relatives will be asking me when I am going back to my old job or if i plan on going back to school or dont i want a job thats more challenging? Like why? What for? Im happy where I am at.

What people need to realize more is that what works for some doesnt work for others. simple as that. Being a wage slave is status quo so if you arent one then you get treated like there must be something wrong with you.

Its always teens and college dropouts that make these kinds of posts.

I am all for free time, but having a fulltime job isnt being a slave. It gets you medical benefits in most places and allows you to save money to own a residence.

Doing the bare minimum and renting is what makes a real slave. You rent for 6 years and then what....nothing. You just throw all of that money away and have no equity. I did that in my early twenties and regret it. My house will be paid off in less than 10 years and ill own something i can sell if i choose or at the very least, wont have to pay a mortgage on anymore.

This whole movement sounds appealing until you realize that being a 36 year old who has a ratty apartment stuffed with MLP toys and Overwatch posters is something you are going to regret when the time comes.

Equity for WHAT? I plan on renting till i'm in my 70s. I'm 36 and have been renting for half my life. Plus I don't need a house, i'm the only person who's gonna be living there.

Its DUMB for me to have a house? Why? Cause only ONE PERSON will live there for the rest of my life. No one else. I'll have vacant rooms cause I won't use 75% of it.

A LOT of people against me ITT must be conservatives/republicans, you know the ones that think government handouts are "offensive". This isn't the 1900s. The rich don't need all that money, that's why they should get taxed more to provide for the regular people that don't work, which is a LOT of 20s-30s males in america.

This is 2018. Lots of liberals agree with my mentality too. The ONLY reason we are here to is to live and exist. My main goal is to eat, drink, sleep, hang with friends, chill at their houses, have sex, watch TV, movies, play video games, sports, board games, card games, go to concerts, hang at the mall

That's a GOOD thing. I plan to have that till i'm 75.

Rent:

- Rent cost per month
- Free major appliances
- Free repairs
- No major down payment necessary
- No closing costs or real estate fees, only security deposit

Mortgage:

- Major initial downpayment
- PMI if you opt out of substantial down payment
- Must buy appliances
- Major, costly repairs (central air, appliances, roofing, etc)
- Property tax
- Interest payments are pissed away too, major chunk of first years of payments are interest
- Housing is an incredibly illiquid, risky investment, all it takes is a factory opening up in the vicinity or the school district getting shitty to ruin your property value
- Housing earns roughly 3% annually nationwide, mutual funds in stocks earn 7-10%.
- More expensive insurance

All I know is my coworker was forced to pay $6,000 to repair his central air unit, four months worth of my rent. And in lieu of a downpayment I was able to fully fund my retirement accounts and open up a taxable brokerage account. There are plenty of instances where it makes sense to buy instead of rent, but it depends on the circumstances.

That's all well and good if you don't plan on having children.

Just recognize that you are forcing your future down this path that you may end up regretting

renting is useful up to a certain point. because if you rush into a mortgage you will definitely end up paying more in the long term not accounting for upkeep, which you HAVE to do for your shit to reasonably appreciate. ppl just gotta pick their spots.

unless you're tc and you're throwing your life away

Like I said, there is literally zero benefit for me to have a house, ever. You and I can agree

And yes I don't want any children or spouses. EVER.

Nope, nothing you can say makes me want to be wagecuck. Have fun working. Ill have fun with my friends goofing off

The glory days are in my 20s, staying up late with bros gaming or goofing around at the mall or Burger King on the weekday and watching football literally all day Sunday

I was beginning to envy you tc, so those are the glory days of someone with no income. Lol Maybe you should get a slave job. It'd be more of a life then you have now.
