My nephew was asking me what tequila tasted like. I had a hard time putting it in words.

I wanted to say bitter, but that doesn't sound right.

I used to think Tequila tasted like puke, but this was when I only had shit Tequila. The good tequila has a nice oily base flavor with a flowery yet lots of umami and spicy flavor to it with that strong alcohol taste all hard liqour has.

A really good vodka should taste like this.

A pure "chilling" alcohol flavor that doesn't sting your mouth, with a very short after taste. Not too sweet. This is a vodka you should drink neat.

A bad vodka or vodka you use for drinks is a vodka that has a sweet oily flavor with a hard sting and and a lingering after taste, NEVER drink this neat.

A smooth single malt scotch is diviiiiine.

I used to absolutely hate vodka until I tried something better than the cheap stuff.

I know this is a joke comment, but tequila and mezcal seriously both taste like sand to me - mezcal moreso, but tequila still has that rancid, dank taste to it. Awful stuff, though I had a phase where I would do shots of white tequila at the pub.

Gin is kind of powdery, definitely has a flowery taste to it too. I rather like gin, it's my go-to spirit
