Toddler easily

It is a person.

It is a simple act of empathy. The dog is replaceable. I have had 4 in my life. Losing my toddler niece would be horrid.

I would not want another person to feel that way if they lost a toddler, knowing I could prevent it.

I think your dogs would understand. They are selfless creatures.

Well said. You sir are a decent human being. The world needs more people like you.

Why the hell should I choose some stranger's kid over my dog that's been a part of my family for years?

Because you want "Zodd3224" to like you.

As long as my living dog still likes me I'm cool

Yeah; you're cool. Wouldn't take much to be cooler than the people on this board anyway.

I dont think there are many things more psychopathic than letting a child burn to death to save your pooch

I could think of a lot of more psychopathic things.

Like saving a box of your clothes instead of the toddler. Or not even trying to save the toddler.

(To be clear, I obviously don't endorse these options.)

This fucking topic again?

The utilitarian principle, people! The baby toddler has the highest maximum capacity to do future good deeds and by being saved by a fire, he'll always be indebted to you. Selflessness as a principle will be instilled upon him as a youngin' and that will bring greater assurance of his future worth. All dogs must live a short life, and die long before you ever do. Just say "thank you" to the dog for all the good memories and say adieu--then save the baby toddler. If the toddler dies, the trauma and grief of losing a child will bring you down and the entire family that baby was related to.

Only the master can truly feel the loss of his own dog.

Imagine that you get attacked by a mountain lion and your dog jumps there to save you. The lion fucks up your dog and the dog still goes to you and sniffs you to make sure youre ok.

Few people do that, let alone toddlers. So yeah my dog wins over a baby

Yeah, but the toddler will save your life better when they grow up.

Why?

You're using these poignant moments to pointlessly and callously slant a narrative that doesn't actually concern you or likely anyone who's posted here.

The real answer should be: try to save both or save whoever the hell you want to save with no hard feelings. And don't talk shit about anyone for their choice from the warm safety of your keyboard.

The baby. If you save a baby, you make the local news, if you make the local news they send out a cute reporter to interview you, and you get at least a couple free drinks in a bar and some strange, also that baby owes you their life so you get an extra soul to sell to the devil.

See this is the good type of CE answer.

Too many people are taking this (and the other gimmick topics like it) far too seriously.

Anyone saying the baby is crazy.

First who are its parents! The two crazy people that broke into my home with their baby to set fire to my house in some kind of family suicide attempt. How else do you explain total strangers being in my house when it caught fire with a baby? I dont let strange people in my house ever.

So the choice is between my dog or the offspring of two crazy people that wanted to die with their baby. Said baby if grows up may one day go on to burn his own family in a random persons building or worse become a serial arsonist as they come from pyromaniacs or at the very least some other mental defect that said baby is clear to have inherited from them from the parents that wanted it to burn to death with them in my home no less.

Who am I to deny its parents their dying wish to die together? Heck if it lives most likely it will go into foster care only to end up with a sex offender or child abuser, or who knows never get adopted and just stay in the system until they are 18, and grow into a pyromaniac rapist possibly who hates me for not just letting it die and saving it from the pain of existence.

My choice the dog as it is not the offspring of crazies/pyromaniacs that wanted to kill me along with themselves their baby, and my dog by destroying everything that I own.

Yeah, it can't be ignored that there's a strong connection between being pro-random-baby and being willing to kill or assault people for not saving the baby.

It's funny because people who would act like that shouldn't ever have kids.

It's clear.

And you also make a good point about how ridiculous this scenario is to people who have their own home and never have any toddlers over.

Personally I live in an apartment complex and have seen 1 toddler 2 rooms down the hall as well as a dog about the same distance away. So for me the situation may actually be more reasonable.

Though in practice I wouldn't think to go in either direction unless somehow I knew the dog and child would be there needing help. And actually the dog couldn't unlock and open the door, so that would be another great reason for me to save the child (assuming the child is able to hear me and unlock a door).

Edit: Oh, wait. Forgot it had to be MY dog. Then no, it's not applicable in my living situation because I don't have a dog.

I cringe when people call their pets "family." Its not your son, your father, your cousin, your wife. Its your property. And unless its one of those turltes that lives like 80 years, it has a brief life span and you will be replacing it with new ones regularly. Pets die and are replaced all the time. It comes with the territory of owning pets. You know they will die before you. But no parent should have to outlive their children, that is a fate worse than death.

The first post clearly states that the parents are passed out in the building aka dead as doornails.
