I don't say this to be edgy but I honestly don't find the death of infants/toddlers to be anywhere as sad as the loss of, say, a teenager or an adult.
Children at that age don't understand the concept of life and death, they don't have foresight, they just generally won't be able to comprehend what's happening to them. Additionally, considering they're very young, they won't last long in a fire, and so as tragic/gruesome as it may seem, they won't suffer very long. All that considered I will go with my dog, whom I love and cherish, who has been a faithful companion and part of my life for the past 7 years. No fucks given. --- -Revenant Dracanea- ... I can understand why someone would pick their pet over a random stranger in this scenario but idk why people also add on unrealistic things to the situation like thinking the parents or child would be so ungraceful towards them after you just save them/their child, or that the child in the future will turn out to be the next evil thing in history.

According to this scenario the parents of the toddler are dead as they passed out from smoke inhalation and will most likely perish.
So the child grows up without parents and is either going to become adopted or become a ward of the state. Potentially shitty life to have. Either way, I would do everything within my capabilities to carry both the toddler and dog out of the building first then attempt to get the parents if possible. --- The 261 board. Realistically it comes down to how much of a risk it is to me. If it is equal then the toddler. But if it's a matter of little to no risk by just grabbing my dog, vs having to rush into an entirely different unit that is burning to get the toddler, then probably the former. Now where exactly that line is that determines which I pick, I dunno.

My answer to this topic is always the same in an ethical hypothetical, I save the baby. In the moment, Im not sure if my instinct would be to grab the dog. It might, because hes mine. It sounds bad but Im not positive how instinft would kick in.
