I've lived in California almost my whole life (moved to New York in the third grade but came back afterwards) and I find it fine. Then again I'm not an adult so I don't deal with all the issues. But my family doesn't find high rent an issue even though we live in a fucking expensive neighborhood.

The funny thing is, people who smoke a lot of weed (or anything, but this is California) have a harder time smelling the smoke from the fire, so they aren't taking as many precautions to keep the air in their homes clean.

Just yesterday an acquaintance (who smokes a lot of weed) said he thought he smelled some smoke the other day, while meanwhile I've had the windows closed and filters running for a solid week because it's overpowering outside.

Maybe your friend isn't that bright?

I mean I smoke copious amounts of the sticky icky stinky stank dank, and smoked cigarettes inside the first place I got which I came to regret, and can still pick out the smell of fire right away regardless. Forest and structure fires smell wildly different than puffing a weed or hitting the binger.

I've been in San Diego about a year now and the only thing really is cost of living. It's a luxury cost that I am willing to pay. Actually with a roommate it's no different than the NYC area. There's a lot of people but there were a lot of people on Long Island when I lived there too without the nice weather and scenery.

This lol. We feel tremors occasionally, maybe once or twice a year? But nothing to be seriously shook about.

At present, probably not. These douchebags are trying to raise our taxes again.

Wildfires can happen anywhere.

Earthquakes aren't too bad. I mean they can be, and no one truly knows when we'll get another big one for sure, but at most they might knock over a couple things.

I'd rather live with tremors and the occasional possibility of a big quake then live somewhere with yearly tornados, hurricanes, or floods, that has a higher guarantee of wrecking you.

If you live a lifestyle where you want to get by on the bare minimum, you'll be better off elsewhere.

Honestly the natural disasters likely won't effect you in like 95% of areas where you'd live.

The high rent is an issue but there are plenty of places to live without high rent that are still decent neighborhoods. I mean its not going to be as cheap as other states unless you live in central valley or greater sacramento area. It does get pretty hot in the summer.

The weather is really second to none. Florida is nice but its humid, California is relatively dry and perfect temperature for much of spring summer and fall.

But to be completely honest with you, if my entire extended family and wifes entire extended family wasn't all in the bay area, and we had no family ties, I would probably move elsewhere. Other areas in the states can be nice too, with nice whether, and you'd get much better bang for your buck. Somewhere with some natural beauty.
