Most people have busy lives and mobile games compliment that life style.

Consoles and PC games will die out eventually and be replaced by mobile phone games

Don't try to fight it

If that's the case, then I won't be gaming.

Been gaming my entire life, never had interest in mobile or handheld games.
Laptop gaming is also terrible.

PC or console+TV. Or PC+TV.
Or I won't game.

The problem with mobile gaming is it's filled with microtransaction trash that's P2W that requires internet data to play and not only that but mobile gaming is hella inefficient when it comes to playing a full scale AAA title and no one wants to look at a small green playing video games and the controllers suck.

IMO - once everyone has switched to those all-screen phones & ppl get used to touchscreen controls, mobile gaming is going to really explode and threaten consoles/PC

we are already seeing it now with AAA games like Fortnite and PUBG being ported to mobile, insane profits for these f2p games, crossplay, etc.

all it's going to take is for the hardware to catch up. get ready people

Mobile gaming will almost assuredly be bigger, but traditional gaming via both console and PC will still be a multibillion dollar market so ignoring that traditional base would be leaving a huge amount of money on the table. That's not going away.

As long as there are PCs, there'll be game studios making games for it. Or do you seriously think that someone is willing to stare at their palm-sized phone screen for hours and use its touch controls to play Euro Truck Simulation or a fast-paced online multiplayer FPS? Get out of here.

It's the truth, why spend so much time and money making a non-mobile game when you can churn out mobile games and get shitloads of cash from microtransactions?

Mobile hardware can catch up to current PC specs. But it's not like full-sized hardware won't have any progress.

Gaming is something we do in our free time.
Free time meaning you can sit and play.
And not stare at a 5inch screen with really awnkward controls.

i meant more like that people need the all-screen phones like the iPhone X or S9 w/e. once you have the screen real-estate and it becomes mainstream i think a lot more people are going to play mobile games

I don't think people need all-screen phones, it's just marketing.
90% of mobile users don't even use half of the processing power. Social media, camera, some simple games and that's about it.
But that's beside the point.
Point is that no matter how big the screen is, touch control gaming is terrible.
And nothing can change my mind. Same goes for most gamers.
People that just play mobile games aren't gamers.

Sadly no.
Not that many games released over the past 3-4 years interest me.
I don't even own a PS4/X1 (have ps1-3 with huge number of games) because there's not enough exclusive games that would warrant the purchase.

I probably play like 5-10 single-player games per year + online games I've been playing for ages.

Can't wait for Cyberpunk, though.

For the most part. Since 2000 or so there's not many games that I'd like to play and I already didn't.
PC and PS1-3 included.
I have absolutely no interest in nintendo games and there's a few xbox exclusives I'd like to play, but nothing special.
And some PS4 games, but not enough to buy a system. And I sure as hell am not paying them to play online.

Although it's going to be weird when people who don't own the new PlayStation and Xbox can still play the exclusives because they're streaming it to their phones and TV's. That's gonna be a weird change.

The problem is gaming companies don't want to make meaningful and fun titles using mobile hardware, they only want to make cash vacuuming freemium skinner boxes. The mobile market has been nothing but a detriment to your average gamer who enjoys console or PC gaming and will never fully embraced by hardcore gamers
