Figures this place is voting this way.

But Ive always wanted to be a dad. Well... I wanted a younger sibling at first... when that didnt happen, child is next best thing.

Theres just something so fulfilling about having a little one that looks up to you.

Alas, financial suicide it would be for me, lol.

Not once in my life have I ever felt even the slightest twinge of interest in parenthood.

Considering all the problems and conditions which run rampant in my family history, my bloodline should probably end anyway.

Kind of. I've always wanted a family but hate the idea of being defined by the 'parent' label. I think it's important to maintain your own individuality and be there for yourself and your partner as well as for your kids.

I want to want kids but I don't. I don't think I'd be a good parent, I don't want to do the work, and I don't think the future looks good.

It's pretty selfish and I feel bad about it. Having kids is one of the main ways you give back to society and your family.

Wut?

He means that once you have kids, your entire life revolves around them. You basically cease to be the person you were before they were born because you focus 90% of your energy on taking care of the kids or worrying about them. Youre a mom/dad and nothing else

One day you're living your own life, you go to the movies to see Venom or Deadpool, have a couple pints at the bar and you can go to the gym and lift weights and punch a punching bag because you're cool like that.

One day you're cleaning diapers, you can't go anywhere and if you go to the movies you're watching fucking Barney or Peppa Pig, and then you're learning nursery rhymes and stupid shit like that because your hobbies now revolve around stuff with the mental complexity necessary for a toddler to enjoy. You're also broke.

Gee, where do I sign up? Hahahaa

see, this is the kind of thing I mean. Obviously this kind of life is easy enough to avoid unless youre a single parent but people seem to subject themselves to it anyway either through lack of organisation or the idea that it's some kind of rite of passage.

I mean, venom and deadpool screenings and watching diehard on christmas is over once you have a baby, and you won't be able to avoid changing diapers and all that

The first three are perfectly possible, not that they interest me anyway, and changing diapers is possibly the most overblown thing about being a parent. You do them on autopilot after maybe the third one.
