I absolutely do. I was in trouble a lot during grade school so I essentially sat in the hall way and learned math by myself. I missed out on a lot of basic concepts that I never really grasped until well after High School.

It's such a broad spectrum, it's hard to really say.

I mean, I make a living as an accountant which involves constant analysis of fairly complex numerical concepts and I expect my math skills are better than most average people, but I can't possibly comprehend the math behind programming a physics engine in a computer game like my brother can!

Yeah, I just never did it. I didn't go to school for about 5 years, so I wasn't educated on anything in that time. I naturally learned English/writing-based curriculum from the internet and reading, but my present day math skills pretty much goes as far as the 4th or 5th grade.

I feel like that is far beyond what a lot of people end up being good at.

But my sister has a double honors major in Math and Statistics, and my father is an accountant.

Are we talking about the entirety of math? Or, like, the math one could expect to see if they went through "normal" schooling? If it's the latter then, maybe an 8 back when I cared about math. Top marks on my AP test for Calculus - I was in the highest level of that class in my senior year.

Now? Like 5 at best, I could maybe stumble through the most basic calc stuff but that's it. I stopped giving a shit about math years ago.

I did pretty well in my grade 12 math class (IB Math. it involved trig, algebra, stats, and calculus), but the only math I've really done since then has been music theory.

I guess I'm pretty good at figuring out which package has the best price per unit of weight at the grocery store.

so... 6? 7 maybe?

Pretty good, but I wasnt the best. I was an excellent math student and I scored very highly on the standardized tests, but I hit my peak in advanced algebra. It was solving and graphic quadratic functions. I fully understood how to do it, but the asshole teacher would make the problems on the test so complicated that

A) it looked NOTHING like the review
B) he usually couldnt get 100% on his own tests on his first try
C) many students couldnt finish in time

All signs point to this guy being at fault. He was literally one of those teachers who is so obsessed that the other teachers gossip about it.

The furthest I got was ordinary differential equations/partial differential equations. Calculus used specifically for heat transfer, fluid dynamics, general engineering. Got an 800/800 on the math portion of the SAT and I think a 35/36 on the math portion of the act. 5/5 on the Calculus BC AP test back in high school but I was only on the backup team for the Math Team (I was somewhere between #6-#10 best at math, not top 5).

I'd give myself an 8.5/10 if 5/10 is the average and the scale is a typical bell curve. I did all that bullshit I mentioned but I did struggle at points in Calc 2 (mostly because I placed out of Calc 1 and was rusty). I'd say a fair scale would look like this:

1: Can't fucking figure out 1+1
2: Can do basic addition and subtraction, struggles with basic multiplication/division
3: Can survive (barely), thinks a quarter pound burger is bigger than a third pound burger
4: "How much would a 20% tip be for this meal?"
5: Completely average. Knows PEMDAS, can do long division, has a weak understanding of basic geometry and trig
6: Adept at multiplication, knows basic algebra, knows shit like SOHCAHTOA, FOIL, graphed functions, etc
7: Pretty juicy at math, completed pre calc, knows the basics of calculus, average student at basic math courses, considered the "math whiz" by average dumbasses
8: Strong understanding of Calculus and science applied math, worked with bullshit like advanced proofs, Calc 3 shapes and shit, taylor series, etc.
9: A hard ass math mother fucker. Math major with advanced degrees, can't find a real fucking job because all he can do is teach advanced math to other nerds.
9.8: Newton and Gauss
9.9: Ramanujan the Legend
10: Euler the God
